A special thank you to Bill and
Laura Antoniak for an excellent Patriotic Concert last Friday. It was especially moving when
the hymns of each branch of service were played and Veterans, sometimes
struggling a bit, rose to honor their branch of the service. And there is
nothing like a John Phillips Sousa March!!! Proceeds from the concert are being
given to the Wounded Warriors Project. God bless
The Lord be with you!

From the Cat at
Last week, June 29th, I looked out my chapel window and I saw Kurosawa and his two-legged friend, Klaus. They were on the lawn and receiving a blessing from Father Lutz. I can't hear too well anymore, so I don't know what was said. Some fur was shaved making me think he had gone through a medical treatment. I also saw a lot of tears from Klaus and I figured out the sad news that Kuro was soon to leave this world.
To my great surprise, I received a letter from Kuro as he composed his own little obituary and farewell love letter. I offer you a few pieces:
"On a day not so long ago, I would have LOVED to challenge you to a spirited jaunt around the Rectory; alas, this fun is not to be. I am humbled -- and rely on all of you to see my beloved family through my transition awaiting them, their smiles, and loving hugs once again.
A bit about me: I am a brown and white Siberian Husky, eight years old -- with a liver-colored nose, born 2008. I had a lazy eye then, but Klaus saw me as PERFECT. My fur-less mom, Marissa, and sister, Elinore Mae, have read BOTH of your books to me. I'm unable to wax poetic as you, but I DO share your love of life. It's said: The light that burns twice as bright, burns twice as fast...just look into my beautiful blue eyes!
The beast of cancer has taken over my body, but not yet my mind, I am not long for this world; however, I appreciate the blessings bestowed upon me by Father Lutz. Rest assured, although I am DOG and you are CAT -- we are one, a united force of LOVE!
So, dear Raphael -- carry on as best you can. Know you are loved by many (as I know I am -- especially Fr. Lutz, and the parishioners of St. Mary.) ...and leaving more than a bit of my wavy white undercoat fur as a gentle reminder of my joyous time here -- and my unconditional LOVE for my family and friends -- as GOD provides HIS unconditional LOVE and MERCY."
Well! What a beautiful letter. My new friend is gone. He wrote more, but the rest is for me. Go ahead. Get a Kleenex. I could use one myself.

Looking for a fun, easy, and delicious way to get more involved with the parish? Help is needed serving coffee and donuts after mass on Sundays. The commitment is just three or four times a year. It takes about 30 minutes to pick up the donuts and set up before mass, and then about an hour after mass to serve and clean up (you don't need to wait until everyone leaves.) Spouses, children, and friends can form part of your donut day team! If you are interested in helping, please contact Sandra Grosko at
We have met and exceeded our BAA goal of $54,995.94. Our total to date is $76,505.00. Thanks to everyone that contributed to the success of this campaign. You can still submit your pledge. 100% of all monies pledged now will return to St. Mary.
BI-MONTHLY HEALING MASS
A Mass of Healing and Healing Service will be celebrated on Monday, July 18, at Saint Joseph Cathedral. Following the Mass, a Service of healing will begin with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Veneration of a relic of the True Cross of Christ, followed by an opportunity for each person to speak with a priest regarding the healing they need in his or her life. The Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick will also be available. The Service of Healing will close with Benediction. All persons who seek Christs healing are invited especially those who suffer with cancer, heart, and other physical infirmities in addition to those in need of emotional and spiritual healing. All caregivers, family members, and members of the medical community are invited as well.
God calls us all to holiness. No matter where we are in life, no matter what weve done, God is showing us the way even if it twists and turns in seeming darkness. Christ will never abandon us. He calls out to us, and we must respond.
