Notes from the Pastor

In your charity please pray for the following who have died:  the grandson of Mrs. Mary Macioci.  His memorial service will be July 8th at St. Ladislas at 6:00 p.m.  May he rest in peace.  Also please pray for the soul of Don Hodgson.  His funeral was held at St. Brigid this past Friday. Don was a longtime and active member of Saint Mary before moving to the Dublin area.  May he rest in peace.

July is the month of the Precious Blood.  The power in the Blood of Christ is such that one drop is sufficient to purify all of human history.  Don’t ever think that you have sinned beyond the mercy of God.

Adoration is off to a good start.  More hours and days will be added as more good souls step forward.  Consider coming as a family.  What a great legacy and great memory to give to your children and grandchildren.   “Adore the Lord in His Holy Court”.

I am on call as the main chaplain for the month of July.  Please pray that it is the quietest month on record!  God bless the good men and women of our law enforcement agencies.  St. Michael,  pray for them.

Consider a visit to the Jubilee Museum with your family or out-of-town visitors.  The museum is open 7 days a week (major holidays excepted).  Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Saturday from 11:00a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Sunday 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The Lord be with you!

Father Kevin F. Lutz

From the Cat at 684 South Third Street:

In last week’s column I noted that Bill Antoniak was playing a concert for Vets (veterans, not veterinarians).   I challenged him to do a concert for pets and the gauntlet (paw) has been picked up.  Bill will do a concert still being formulated.  So far it includes:  Two pieces on cats, one piece on weasels (they’re such weasels) and one on dachshunds (I think he owns one.)  The beneficiary of this concert will be the Columbus Police Department K-9 Unit.  Police dogs have the best manners.  They would never bite or even chase a cat.  The concert will be either on the feast of St. Francis of Assisi or St. CATherine.  (You didn’t know St Catrick had a cousin, did you?)  Tune in next week for more details.

You can do that on a Worldwide Marriage Encounter weekend! Marriage Encounter is 44 hours where married couples can get away from jobs, kids, chores, and phones—and focus only on each other. The next two weekends are August 5-7 and November 11-13, both in central Ohio. For more information or to register, contact Paul & Marilou Clouse at 614-834-6880 or visit our website at

In 2010 Bishop Frederick Campbell and the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women launched a cancer responsive initiative. In 2016 this initiative was renamed the Saint Peregrine Fund. This fund will help cancer patients and their families with unmet needs through the Catholic hospital systems in our diocese. Please see the poster on the bulletin board at the rear of Church.

ό   Please don’t forget to alert the parish office if you have moved.

ό   Please keep in mind the benefits of registering at your parish. Most often this involves a letter of acknowledgement signed by the Priest that you are a registered and participating member when you are asked to be a God parent or sponsor.

A SPECIAL "OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE SILVER ROSE - ONE LIFE, ONE ROSE" PRAYER SERVICE…. honoring the Blessed Virgin under her title of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas, and reaffirming the sanctity of human life, will be held on Tuesday, July 12, at St. Michael Church, 5750 N. High St. following the 7:00 p.m. Mass. Sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, six "Silver Roses" have been uniting the faithful in prayer throughout North America since April 2015. Looking for a fun, easy, and delicious way to get more involved with the parish?  Help is needed serving coffee and donuts after 9:00 a.m. mass on Sundays.  The commitment is just three or four times a year.  It takes about 30 minutes to pick up the donuts and set up before mass, and then about an hour after mass to serve and clean up (you don't need to wait until everyone leaves.)  Spouses, children, and friends can form part of your donut day team!  If you are interested in helping, please contact Sandra Grosko at

We have met and exceeded our BAA goal of $54,995.94. As of June 30th we have recorded pledges totaling $71,205.00. Thanks to everyone that contributed to the success of this campaign. It is never too late to make a contribution. 100% of all monies pledged now will return to St. Mary.

Father, I have come to the understanding that Jesus asks very little from us, only that we accept him as our friend and love him and care for one another. How simple! And yet how difficult! Please give me grace not to disappoint him, who has given his all for me. I ask this in Jesus's name, Amen.-from Stories of Jesus
