Notes from the Pastor

Father Adam Travis will be visiting this week.  Father is a priest of the Louisiana Diocese.

June is the month of the Sacred Heart.  A Catholic home is often defined by its beautiful religious art.  A quick glance through many thrift and antique shops tells me He has been dethroned as an unnecessary piece of art in our homes.  If you are interested in the Enthronement of the Sacred Heart for your home, call the parish office.

Tuesday, June 14th, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will begin at 9:00 a.m. in our newly refurbished Adoration Chapel.  Adoration will go until 5:20 p.m. each Tuesday.  There are still a couple of spaces available.  Please don't hesitate to contact the office to sign up for a time slot.

The school year ended well.  Thank you to all who helped make this a successful year.  Pray for our graduates that they will stay close to Christ, Our Lady and the Church.

The Second Cat Book continues to be off the New York Times best seller book list and Raphael is feeling a bit hurt.  The book will be available on the table in the back of church this weekend.  This wonderful book sells for $20.  All proceeds go to St. Mary School.  If you wish to purchase one, just take it and give the money to Father or the Deacon.

The Lord be with you!

Father Kevin F. Lutz

From the Cat at 684 South Third Street:

This past week I saw in the news the coverage of the death of Muhammed Ali.  He was my twin in the realm of vanity, for we both could not but proclaim our beauty.  And as far as his extremely famous quote of -- float like a butterfly, sting like a bee ---- My original quote that he so boldly rearranged to serve his purposes was "Eat a butterfly and don't let a bee sting you".   I actually uttered this marvelous original quote many years ago.

Place yourself in God’s presence in the first moments of each day. You will discover the whole day improves with that small offering. Talk to him. He waits for you in the stillness, in the silence of your heart. Speak.
