Notes from the Pastor

In your charity, please remember in prayer the soul of Betty DuRivage whose funeral was at Mother of Sorrows Chapel.  Betty was a member of the Byers' Family who contributed to many charities including the Holy Family Soup Kitchen.  May she rest in peace.

The trees at Corpus Christi this week got a much-needed hair-cut and the grounds and gardens are looking well-dressed for the season.  This was accomplished, thanks to the kindness and hard work of Deacon Jerry Butts and Kevin Joyce.

I am asking that every family give to the Bishop's Annual Appeal.  All of us should have a hand on the oar.  There are many worthy causes supported by this appeal.  We should each do our part.

The Adoration Chapel (formerly the Atrium) is coming along nicely.  Please drop in and see it.  I'm hoping that with the increase of Eucharistic Adoration we will see many vocations and many graces descend upon the parish.  If you are interested, there are time slots available for the first day of Eucharistic Adoration.  We will begin on June 7th from 9:00 a.m. to 5:20 p.m.  Once you sign up, it will continue to be your Tuesday time for Adoration. If you have questions, please call the office. Trust me--you will love spending this time with Our Lord!

Many people are asking what gift is appropriate in celebration of the Ordination of Deacon Tim Lynch to the Holy Priesthood.  The easiest answer is a beautiful card and money inside.  If you are considering a more personal gift, Tim is registered at "Generations" for some of his priestly needs. If neither of these suggestions works for you, see me personally.

The school year is almost over.  I am certain the students have tears in their eyes over this prospect.

The Lord be with you!

Father Kevin F. Lutz

From the Cat at 684 South Third Street:

Another lover of cats has died.  I overheard Father saying that Betty DuRivage died and was survived by her family and her pet cat.  I have a special place in my heart for cat people.

Recently, Father was visited by Linda and Mike Stickney who took him out to dinner and discussed their interest in animal welfare -- this bit of information placed them extremely high on my list of well-thought-of humans!  I also was amazed and edified to notice that when they came into the rectory, they showed me the proper and customary respect of which I am due.
