AN UNBORN CHILD’S LIFE – WEEK BY WE

Week 29 (about seven months) – Not so long ago, my brain was flat and smooth, but now it has grown lots of grooves. Different parts of my brain are getting more and more specialized, so they can help me better to hear, to see, to smell and to keep my balance when I someday learn to walk.

Notes from the Pastor

In your charity please remember in prayer Gerald Brown of St. Ladislas Church whose funeral service was conducted last Sunday at Graumlich Funeral Home.  Mr. Brown was a Veteran of WWII -- serving his country generously and with distinction.  It's always an honor for me to celebrate the funeral of a U.S. Veteran.  Also, remember in pray the soul of Jon Erickson whose Funeral Mass was offered last Saturday at 10:00 a.m. here at St. Mary.  Jon became a Catholic here at St. Mary just before I arrived at the parish. The faith was planted deeply within his heart.  May they rest in peace.

Congratulations to Natalie Viken who received her First Holy Communion last Sunday at the 11:30 Mass.

Soon we will be celebrating the ordination to the priesthood of three of our Deacons, including our own Deacon Tim Lynch.  The Diocesan assignments will be posted very shortly.  Pray for God's blessing upon the new priests as they receive their assignments in the vineyard of the Lord.

The Bishop's Annual Appeal is coming.  Our parish goal is $55,000.00.  The Parish Finance Committee is working on some creative solutions to our buildings, especially the roof of the church which is in sorry condition.  Recently, a couple of engineers looked at some of the truss work and sagging issues and something needs to be done for the longevity of our church.  More about this to follow.

From the Cat at 684 S. Third Street:

I don't get prayer requests often, but I do get them.  Do you think animals pray?  Birds are best at it, I must admit.  Just try to listen to the birds and suddenly your feel closer to God and nature and your thoughts become prayerful.  Well, I've been asked to pray for a dog (he is not in my house, so I'm happy to oblige).  Please join in prayer for Jim Hanson's dog, Rexie, who has cancer.  Any friend of Jim’s is a friend of mine.  God bless you, Rexie!  I know all dogs go to Heaven, but hang around on earth a little longer!

A NOTE FROM DEACON TIM LYNCH

Praise be to Jesus Christ. I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks and gratitude for all of your support, encouragement, and prayers over the past year. It has been an honor serving you as a transitional Deacon in preparation for the Priesthood. Although I would sincerely enjoy having you all present at my ordination on May 28th, this is not possible due to lack of seating. I would like to extend an invitation to each of you for my first Mass of Thanksgiving on May 29, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. here at Saint Mary.

Following Mass there will be a reception with light refreshments in the school gym. Please RSVP to the parish office @ 614.445.9668 if you plan to attend the reception.

You will find my ordination remembrance cards in the back of Church. Please pick one up and continue to remember me in your prayers and I will continue to keep all of you in my daily prayers.

Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam !!      Deacon Tim Lynch
