Notes from the Pastor

I am writing this on December 16th, so there's no news to report.  I may just make some up.  Here goes:

     -  The Christmas collection was so large, we will build a new addition to the school.

     -  Father Droll was made a Monsignor when Pope Francis received the annual parish report and saw the veritable flood of miracles he has accomplished.

     -  Max & Erma's gave me a permanent booth and said "The Wednesday Free Cookie Special" applies to Father Lutz every day.

     -  Gresso's opened up a branch in the actual rectory and has 24-hour pierogi service for the pastor.

     -  The parish swimming pool will be built under the new addition to the school.

     -  The new underground parking garage will allow grass on the current parking lot for the children.

     -  The three newly ordained priests(another miracle!) have all asked to be assigned to St. Mary's and it has been granted.

     -  St Mary's has been elevated to the title "St. Mary, Mother of God, Major Basilica of the West."

Well, I hope that the blessings that do come to us will make us more grateful, more prayerful and more generous!

Happy New Year!

The Lord be with you!

Father Kevin Lutz

From the Cat at 684 South Third Street:

This is my final column for the year!   Soon my next book will be out, The Cat at 684 South Third:   As last year, the profits go to St. Mary's School. I'll let you know when they are printed.

In my last column I asked a trivia question about the name of the donkey in the old "Our Gang" comedies.  I even gave a clue that the answer had more to do with math than biology.  The donkey's name was "Algebra."  The teacher would say, "Get that beast out of here!"  Then Buckwheat would lead it out while saying "Come on, Algebra.  There's no place in school for Algebra."

Raphael

P.S.  I feel old!! And Cold!!   Happy New Year!!
