Notes from the Pastor

In your charity please pray for the following who have died:  Sister Justine (my grade school principal).  I am offering her Funeral Mass on December 19th at Stella Niagara, the Motherhouse of her Franciscan Order, which is located in Lewiston, NY.  Also, please remember my third, fourth, and fifth grade teacher, Sister Timothy, who recently died.  And also pray for Ben Peterman II, age 28.  Some years ago I baptized his only son.  Ben died an untimely death due to congestive heart failure.

We are in the final countdown to Christmas.  Friday is the Blessed Day.  Many people come back to Church to celebrate Christmas Mass.  With this in mind, be kind to every stranger you meet.  You may make a difference in the practice of their faith.

Please double check the bulletin for Mass times.  All Masses have been assigned.  Sometimes last minute changes are necessary--it's good to check on times.

A special thanks to the choirs, all liturgical ministers and to the children for their beautiful Christmas Programs which we have enjoyed over the past two weeks.

My prayers are with all of you for a very Blessed Christmas.

May the Deep Peace of the Son of Peace be with you!

Fr. Kevin Lutz

From the Cat at 684 South Third Street:

My most loyal friend and letter writer is Mary Sailor.  She tells me that she is going to have a guest for the holidays -- a cat named Punkey.  How sweet she is to invite such a noble guest to her house.

It is time for my "annual trivia question about animals"--- The First prize will be an ornament I haven't broken.  Second prize will be an ornament I have broken.

QUESTION:  In the old "Our Gang" Comedies what was the name of the donkey?  The clever among you will understand that this is more of a math question, than biology.

Answer Next week.

Merry Christmas

Lord, lead us ever closer to your mystery. Lead us on the path that you want us to take: the path of humility, the path of meekness, the path of poverty, the path of feeling ourselves sinners. This is how you come to save us, to free us.

–Pope Francis from The Joy of Advent
