Notes from the Pastor
Peace and all good things! Happy Gaudete Sunday! Rejoice!
The Village Lights and the musical concert by the
Maennerchor was a great opening to the joy of the Christmas Season.
You are invited to the School Advent Prayer Service & Christmas program this Thursday at in St. Mary Church. Also St. Ladislas will have their Christmas Party at Berwick Party House today (Sunday) at Check the bulletin for other events not noted here.
The Year of Mercy has begun. This is a special time of grace. It is also a time to remove from your heart any old baggage including bitterness, shame, sin, and whatever is robbing you of the freedom that God wishes for you! Many confessions will begin with the words: "Bless me, Father, for I have sinned. It's been so many years since my last confession . . ." Trust me, you are not going to set a world's record. A humble and contrite heart He will not spurn.
The Lord be with you!

From the Cat at
Growing at the rate of 7 years for every human year, I am certainly feeling it lately. My hearing is not all that it used to be. Normally I hear the pastor come in, and I begin to chant the prayer before meals. More recently he has managed to get his dinner, sit in front of the TV and watch the news, and I don't even know he's there until he yells at some person on the news and tells them to shut up. We are both getting old rather ungracefully.
I hear from the secret animal network that there are children who may not have a nice Christmas because of hard times. I've done all I can do, namely: to make you aware. Please be kind to the little ones and take a tag from the tree, or just buy a gift, wrap it and indicate that it is for a boy or girl and what it is. I will see that it is delivered. Everybody takes their turn having a rough time. Help out! The Recording Angel (and a personal friend of mine) makes note of these things. How great it will be at the Final Judgement when many strangers thank you as they find out that you were the Secret Santa of their lives.
I am open to suggestions for a gift for Fr. Droll. Maybe he'll think I at least have a heart since he doesn't think I have a soul.

News Worthy Notes
We look ahead to the coming of the Son of Man, standing erect and with heads held high. We live in hope, not in fear. Our experience of God is no longer limited by human weakness or even human sinfulness. God has always been one step ahead of us, with a plan that exceeds our greatest desires. -from The Little Way of Advent
