From the Pastor’s Desk….…

In your charity please pray for the soul of Lt. Commander Richard A. Smiley who died and was buried from St. Mary on September 1.  He is survived by his wife, Megann and two sons, Will and Soren who attend St. Mary's School.  Please remember them all in your prayers.  May he rest in peace.

Thanks to all who supported the 4 S Club Foxfire Golf Day to benefit St. Mary's School last Sunday.  I regret that at the last minute I was not able to be there.  God reward the many good souls who made the day a success.

September is here.  Days are getting shorter - yet they are just as muggy as ever.  There is now air-conditioning in the school.  How did we ever live without it?  I'd write more, but my TO DO list is blocking the sun.  Lots to do.  Your prayers are always appreciated.

The Lord be with you!

Fr. Kevin Lutz

From the Cat at 684 South Third Street . . .

Fr. Droll saw me looking wistfully at his dinner the other night and he said, "Go away, Beast!"  Does he not realize that I understand English?    My claws flexed a bit, but I am a cat of peace and decided to spare his life. Summer is almost over and I must adjust to the changing temperatures.  Not all these registers deliver equal amounts of cold and warm air.  It would be easier if I could get to the controls high up on the wall.  The only one that is reachable is in the chapel and even I, as a devout CATholic, would never get up on the altar.  I tried to spell out a message to Father with the Kibbles, but they looked so good I ate them before he read the message. Self-control and hunger are polar opposites for me.

The Beast (according to some!)
