From the Pastors Desk .
A triple salute to Frank Wickham, Chris Davis, Linda Sisson and the entire staff who did so much for our 90th Homecoming and our 150th year as a parish. The crowd number seemed high, spirit very positive and the entertainment well received!
The procession from Holy Cross to St. Mary was especially noteworthy. It was well covered by the press and the bell machine was, by every estimation, a very exciting thing to behold and to hear. I had never played one of these before that day, but a keyboard is a keyboard and it was just a lot of fun! I played the "Bells of St. Mary's" as we pulled up to the church and some people had tears in their eyes.
Thank you to all who volunteered and who came to share in the fun-filled spirit of this wonderful parish event.
A great sadness has occurred. I had a wedding on August 1st and sadly 17 days after his wedding, the groom is dead. I had just Confirmed and received him into the Church the morning of his wedding. He was so excited to be both a Catholic and to be getting married. Please pray for his grieving widow, Devin. She and her whole family are in deep pain. Please lift them up to God in your prayers.
Also, please pray for the soul of Dennis Healey, one of my servers from my first Church assignment. It's always sad when we lose young people.
The Lord be with you!

From the Cat at 864 S. Third:
The following is a letter I recently received.
name is Luna, the cat, and I live all the way in
I was sitting on my owner's lap watching her type up stories for the next edition of your cat book to be released early in 2016. You are an amazing cat! I hope that you can help me with a problem I seem to be having--that is to say--with my roommate Mr. Bingley. Bingley is a young cat, not quite as civilized as you and me. He is a bully and he likes to attack me (especially in the early morning hours when my owners are sleeping) and it causes me to have an asthma attack.
I noticed that you were "successful" in helping Precious Kitty Love-Love find a new home. Please do share your secret! Mr. Bingley belongs to my owner's sister, but she's away at college and can't take him to live with her quite yet. I haven't been blessed with the virtue of patience. However, this bullying does gain me the sympathy vote by the humans of the house...and extra treats.
I'll be sure to sneak a bag of my favorite kitty treats in my owner's luggage the next time she visits.
Luna, the Cat
Dear Luna, the Cat,
How we suffer!!! I noticed the solution may be in the other cat's name. It would be wise for Mr. Bingley to read "Pride and Prejudice". He is acting more like Mr. Wickham (the bully in this novel) rather than the charming and lovable Mr. Bingley. Once he takes the time to read it and become aware of the two very different personalities of these characters, he will adjust quickly to his true Mr. Bingley personality.

This is a good time to give it a try. We are looking at some new music and there are many practice aids to help learn the music. Reading music is not necessary, as well teach you. All you need is a willingness to learn, and 1 ½ hours each Wednesday. For more information contact: Bill Antoniak at 614-580-0973 or firstname.lastname@example.org
