From the Pastor’s Desk….…

In your charity please pray for the souls of Carolyn Adamshick, Mary Ellen Ficocella and Patricia Ketzly who died this past week.  May they rest in peace.

Please WELCOME Father Patrick Etuk.  He is a Missionary of St. Paul from Nigeria.  Last week he preached at St. Ladislas and Corpus Christi and has spent the week here enjoying German Village.  He will speak at all the Masses this weekend.  Please be generous in the Second Collection for the Missions.  The work of the Missionaries shows that the Church is alive and well.

Our summer visitors to the rectory are slowly returning to their places of origin--Brother Gabriel is back in his Carmelite Monastery, Brother Michael and Brother Steve have returned to Detroit to the Aquinas House of Studies.

This year's Parish Festival will be more elaborate than most with the added parade and the appearance of many distinguished alumni returning.

You will notice this weekend, the old garage is gone.  Setting as it did right in the middle of the property, it blocked the view of everything and it took up at least 10 parking spots.  We will soon have better traffic patterns and signage.

The Lord be with you!

Father Kevin F. Lutz

From the Cat at 684 S. Third Street…

Well, the pastor turned 65 last week!  Nothing compared to my 126 years of age.  I'm twice his age and, dare I say it----twice as wise.  That may not sound like humility, but cats speak humbly in a most unusual way---it's a cat thing.

I must say hello to my dearest friend Mary Sailor.  She wrote me a note and called me her best friend.  There is much to be learned in friendship to an animal.  We are loyal, never tell lies and are always irresistibly cute without the aid of make-up.

I'm getting ready for the festival---come up to the windows and say "hi" to me.  I hear Fr. Droll is going to be in the dunk tank.  I'm trying to get Father Lutz to consider being dunked in the tank for $1,000.00 a try.

Jesus comes through something tiny, a little piece of bread, consecrated by the priest, which becomes his Body. This is the plan of Jesus. He will leave us physically, but through the bread he will be really present with us. The sacrament becomes a real presence for each one of us; it is not just a moment of grace but a sign of a covenant of love, a friendship offered to us.
