In your charity, please pray for the soul of Robert Coffman whose funeral Mass will be Monday at 10:30 at Mother of Sorrows Chapel.   Also, please pray for Donald Fisher whose funeral Mass will be Tuesday at Mother of Sorrows at 11:00 a.m.  May they rest in peace.

Last Sunday a beautiful ceremony marked the dedication of the St. Michael Shrine at St. Leo Church.  A bagpiper played as the police color guard bore the flags into the church.  After medals and holy cards of St. Michael were blessed, all processed outside for the dedication of the new shrine on the west side of the church.  God bless the brave men and women of the Columbus Police Department.  Thanks to Lori Mitchell and her army of volunteers who prepared a great celebration.

Brother Gabriel will return to his monastery this week.  Pray for his mother and his entire family.  Soon Father Nick Droll will arrive.  He will begin his assignment on July 14th.  Pray for him and for vocations.

The Lord be with you!

Father Kevin F. Lutz

From the Cat at 684 South Third . . .

English is a cumbersome language "Cat-ese" has an economy of words and sounds.  For instance "Meeeow" means, "Feed me, priest!"  If you add one extra "e" and one "o" it becomes "I don't have all day, priest!  Open the tuna and get out of the way!"

I can recite the Gettysburg Address in seven syllables.  Don't get me started on pronunciation.  Win a prize if you can pronounce this word correctly:  ghoti.  Don't tell others if you already know!   Father may have a prize.

Eater of ghoti and other delectations.

Taking back marriage for our children and families: Wednesday, July 15th, 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. at the Pontifical College Josephinum’s Jessing Center. There is much confusion in today’s culture about the reality of marriage.  We are left wondering: How do we protect our children from adopting distorted concepts of love and marriage?  How do we promote the truth about marriage between man and woman in our society?   William B. May, author of Getting the Marriage Conversation Right, and frequent guest on EWTN and Catholic Radio, will discuss the need for a new Marriage Reality Movement and provide a roadmap for reclaiming the truth about love and marriage.   All are welcome to this free presentation sponsored by St. Gabriel Radio and the Diocesan Marriage & Family Life Office.

ST. MARY SCOUT TROOP 456…. has been very active and has a great schedule for the rest of this year.  We will have our first Eagle Scout by the end of this year. We are second to none and offer a very affordable program due to our connection with Council's Scout-reach program.   We are now on Facebook and we would like to invite the Pack and all of St Mary Parishioners to follow us on Facebook at BSA Troop 456: Scoutreach Unit.

There is not a more affordable, high quality scouting program available anywhere. We camp monthly, sponsor 10 mile hikes monthly, take advantage of every merit badge clinic, and all at little or no cost to our families (scouting can cost hundreds of dollars to participate, but, not for St Mary Scouts). We would like for more St Mary youths to take advantage of this opportunity. A quality scouting program offers so much to a young man and we strive to offer the highest quality program in the council without a huge cash outlay by the parents. We are already recognized as the Flagship unit of our district!

On Friday, June 12, 2015, the Most Reverend Frederick F. Campbell Re-Consecrated the Diocese of Columbus to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. You can participate in this Re-Consecration of the Diocese by consecrating your own home to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Every Catholic household in the Diocese of Columbus is encouraged to consecrate their home to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, prominently displaying an image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in a main area of the home. Any household in the Diocese that does not currently have an image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus may request a beautiful 5 x 7 blessed plaques of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary. Though not required, please prayerfully consider making a small ($5) freewill offering to help offset administrative and postage fees. Visit to request your free blessed plaques.

While the future may be uncertain to us, we can rest comfortably in the loving control and sovereignty of our Heavenly Father. We can trust his plan, and we can rely upon his fatherly design and control.
