Every connection we make with our brothers and sisters on earth holds great power. Each day, God calls us to be in community, to share faith and friendship, and to lead each other into a beautiful, miraculous, and radical relationship with God. -from Created to Relate

From the Pastor’s Desk….…

Father Nick Droll and I have been visiting Corpus Christi and St. Ladislas and preparing for the clustering of these churches.  They will remain independent, but both us priests will live here at St. Mary's.  We are working on creative ways to make them all maintain full service for each parish.  I asked Father if he was happy about being assigned here.  He said:  I have not been able to stop smiling since I got the call.  That bodes well for us all.

Father Rod D'Amico will be transferred to St. Paul in Westerville.  His churches will be having receptions on July 12, his last Sunday.  You are welcome.  If you would like to drop off a card, you may send it there or here.

My sister Sheila had to have some extra work done to her knee. At this writing she is getting ready to leave Riverside and stay for a few weeks at Mother Angeline McCrory Manor while she recuperates and does physical therapy.  Please keep her in your prayers.

Brother Gabriel O. Carm., is spending two weeks here at St. Mary while visiting his parents.  He is a Columbus native and a DeSales graduate.

Every now and then the Jubilee Museum gets a chance to buy something original.  The latest:  a Swiss Guard Sword from the era of Pope Pius IX (1846-1878).  Come, see!

The Lord be with you!

I am building an ark.  Too much rain.  I have not been able to lay in the sun for days.  Thanks Heaven for my sweet disposition and my near inability to complain.  May you be inspired by my reticence.

Frannie X is getting ready to leave after her week’s “vacation” here.  I knew she was homesick when she wrote "Tartan Fields" with Kibbles and Bits!  Her new family will be returning from vacation just as you get this bulletin. We have had an interesting week together.  She brags about her new digs, but I have St. Mary's and that's as good as it gets.

The Fortnight for Freedom: Freedom to Bear Witness will take place from June 21 to July 4, 2015, a time when our liturgical calendar celebrates a series of great martyrs who remained faithful in the face of persecution by political power—St. Thomas More and St. John Fisher, St. John the Baptist, SS. Peter and Paul, and the First Martyrs of the Church of Rome.  The theme of this year's Fortnight will focus on the "freedom to bear witness" to the truth of the Gospel.

There will be a free showing of the movie For Greater Glory on Tues., June 30, @ 7:00 p.m. at St. John Newman Church, 9633 E. State Rt. 37, Sunbury. For Greater Glory is a true story about the struggle for religious freedom in Mexico in the 1920s.  For questions, contact the diocesan Office for Social Concerns at 614-241-2540.  For information about the Fortnight for Freedom, visit
