Faith can help us accept that the one who has died is now joined with all those who were part of his or her life, those whom they have loved and who have gone before them. We believe that they are now with God in a fuller way than was possible during their life on earth. - from What Do I Say

From the Pastor’s Desk….…

In your charity, please pray for the repose of the soul of Betty Wade Lutz (1920 - 2015).  Betty was my stepmother and a dear sweet soul.  She was very involved with my sisters, nieces and nephews and their children.  Betty was raised in the Baptist Faith, but she enjoyed her many visits to St. Mary. I thank Deacon Minner and all of you for many expressions of sympathy and assurances of prayer.  May she rest in peace.

Please also remember in prayer the soul of Fred Savage (wife Sharon Thompson).  I gave Fred the Last Rites of the Church and conducted his funeral at Holy Family Church -- A Solemn High Requiem Mass on Thursday.  May he rest in peace.

St. Leo Church will be having the dedication of the Statue of Saint Michael the Archangel.  The ceremony will be held in the courtyard between the St. Leo Church and the rectory.  It will take place on Sunday, June 28th at 7:00 p.m.  All are invited to join in prayer and celebration of this special dedication.

The Lord be with you!

Father Kevin F. Lutz

From the Cat at 684 South Third Street:

My appeal for poetry has brought in at least 10,000 replies.  Most of them are known in the secret language of Cats.  Below, however, is a sample of one written in English. The distribution of Kit-Kat bars will take place in the next two weeks to those whose works were published.

Franny X will be making a return visit to the rectory for a week.  She is doing this under the pretext that her family is going to North Carolina on vacation.  Oh, what fun we'll have-- even though she will be disturbing the solitude of my mansion!

The Tuna and Bird Speak of Things

Said the tuna to the bird,

CAT is such a scary word,

Bringing visions of eyes that look at me

Through the waters of my sea.

Said the bird in quick reply,

Yes, they even scour my sky.

                  And the tail wiggling free,

As CAT looks upon my tree.

                 Continuing on, the tuna speaks,

And, Oh, those sharp and snapping teeth.

And so, from both tuna and bird,

Are raised up praises to the Lord,

Thanking God for the gift of land

                 On which CAT eats morsels

                 From caretaker's hand.
