On Friday, May 1st, Jeremiah Scott Guappone, Timothy Joseph Lynch, Stephen Michael Smith and Daniel Joseph Swartz will be Ordained to the Sacred Order of Deacons of our Lord Jesus Christ through the imposition of hands and the invocation of the Most Holy Spirit. This beautiful ordination Mass will take place at 7:00 p.m. at Saint Joseph Cathedral. All those wishing to attend may do so. Please keep these men in your prayers. Tim Lynch is from St. Mary and Dan Schwartz is already in the Navy and will be serving as a chaplain. His dad served Mass for me back in the late 70's.
It was wonderful to have Father Franks visit for the weekend. He had a great time! Still waiting for firm dates from Father Hammond and Father Watson. Once we know, I will share that with you.
May is the month of Our Lady and the Rosary. A suggestion -- bring back the custom of a May Altar in each home. This is a beautiful tradition and very simple to do. Take a picture of your May Altar and I'll try to put some in the bulletin each week. Saying the Family Rosary each day is another custom to be cultivated in your home. If you can't say the entire Family Rosary, let the family gather to say a decade each night.
The Knights of Columbus have not received any men into their ranks in the last year. Please give it some thought, Gentleman. The Knights are legendary for their Pro-Life work and support of religious vocations. Speaking of knights--many decades ago according to legend, the Knights were marching down the street in a parade--- all were cheering them on and a little boy shouted "Look, Mommy, everyone is out of step except for father".

I'm glad to leave winter behind! My winter mane is less and less substantial as I get older. The Seminarians have all dispersed from their Easter Vacation and I now have five bedrooms again.
Father Franks doesn't know that I understand English. I heard him remark -- "Oh, there's Father's Cat---I prefer dogs". When people underestimate my ability to comprehend, I'm reminded of the story of the two older ladies who saw a little girl and one said to the other "She's rather P-L-A-I-N" and the other softly responded "She's a bit H-O-M-E-L-Y". The girl after overhearing them said "But very B-R-I-G-H-T!"
