From the Pastor’s Desk….…

Happy Easter!  God bless you all!

This was a memorable Easter.  God be praised for every aspect of the beautiful celebrations.  Welcome to our newest members.  Many graces were given by God to our new members at the Easter Vigil.

Welcome back/welcome home, Father Franks!  Father will be here later this Saturday evening and will offer and preach at the 9:00 and 11:30 Masses.  Receptions to follow after each of these Masses.  This is part of our Sesquicentennial.  The sacristy is getting a little do-over.  Pray that I get Father's picture back on the wall before he arrives.

In your charity please pray for the soul of Richard Kaiser. His graveside funeral was held April 11 at St. Joseph Cemetery.  May he rest in peace.  Please also remember Anita Timmons who I prepared for death.  Her funeral plans to be announced.  May she rest in peace.

There was a nice little clip on the Jubilee Museum on Channel 4 with Mike Bowersock.  A new exhibit is opening up this weekend: the art of Alfred Tibor, a Holocaust survivor.  Now in his 90’s his family through Argo and Lehne Jeweler’s is providing a significant collection of his works to be seen. Come check it out.

This week we have a few seminarians staying at the rectory.  One of them, Tim Lynch, has registered at St. Mary, so we have a vocation about to bear fruit.  Tim worked for me many years ago and after a long discernment felt called to the priesthood. He will be ordained a deacon on May 1 in the evening at St. Joseph Cathedral.  Pray for vocations.

The Lord be with you!

Fr. Kevin F. Lutz

From the Cat at 684 South Third . . .

Enough with the rain!  I need more sun.  I bet you do, too.  Thank you to the kind souls who sent me Easter treats.  The pastor got only two baskets and a lot of (inedible) cards.  I received many care packages filled with treats.  I heard the pastor on the phone.  Apparently there is a priest (yey!) in Michigan (hiss!) who owns a cat (yay!) who heard of my column (smart cat) and who will be writing to me (see, I'm not the only literary cat - it's in our genes since we came from litters.  Don't groan; I've heard some of your jokes!)  Mail boxes are formidable barriers to cats, so I will have to wait until the priest mails the letter.

I just realized that I am years older than the oldest child in St. Mary School.  This is a cause for celebration.  Think I'll take a nap.

In the 18th Spring-time of my life

Raphael the Venerable

A reception sponsored by the Knights of Columbus (Council 5429) will be held in the school gym after each Mass to provide an opportunity for families and individuals attending the Masses to meet and talk with Fr. Father, grant us the grace to be humble and content to place ourselves at your service. You know the role you want us to play in your kingdom. Following where you lead is the only sure way to find success and enjoy the adventure. We ask your grace to know this, in Jesus's name, Amen. - from Stories of Jesus
