From the Pastor’s Desk….…

In your charity please remember in your prayers the soul of Eleanor Noltemeyer who died just 6 days shy of her 96th birthday.  She was baptized here at St. Mary's and fittingly was buried here on Thursday of this past week.  May she rest in peace.

We begin Holy Week today.  It is the HOLIEST WEEK OF THE YEAR!   All are invited to the many services taking place this week. These services afford us a beautiful opportunity and privilege to walk with our Blessed Lord during His suffering for our Redemption.  Beginning with Palm Sunday through Holy Thursday when He instituted the Holy Eucharistic and the Sacrament of Holy Orders-- through His Good Friday Way of the Cross and suffering on Calvary-- out of Love for all of us - to the Joyous Resurrection of Our Lord and Savior on Easter morning.  It is such a perfectly prayerful time to walk with Him.

Please refer to the Holy Week schedule of services in this bulletin. You may even want to post it on your refrigerator for quick reference.  Please notice there will be no 5:30 p.m. Mass on Tuesday.  This has been cancelled because of the 6:00 p. m. Chrism Mass at St. Joseph Cathedral. The Holy Oils used in the Sacraments of the Church are blessed by Bishop Campbell at this service and distributed to the priests of the diocese, most of whom will be present at this beautiful Mass.  You are also invited to attend this once-a-year Church celebration.

We will be having Tenebrae again this year at St. Mary's.  As the schedule states, it will be at 8:00 p.m. on Good Friday.

Please pray for those who will be coming into the fullness of the Church during the Solemn Easter Vigil Mass on Saturday evening at 8:30 p.m. It is important that we continue to pray for each other as we attempt to live each day for the honor and glory of God.

Laudetur Jesus Christus!

Father Kevin F. Lutz

From the Cat at 684 South Third Street:

I heard the sad news of the death of the beloved Guinea pig, Scout, of St. Mary's Preschool fame.  Animals are a special gift from God, and pets are special among animals.  When pets die, it teaches us that everything in this life has an ending.  I know the children and teachers are very sad.  I will see if Father can bring me to their classroom to pet me and receive consolation.  I know they are worried about Scout, but I like to agree with Bishop Hettinger's thoughts on this subject---If you need that pet around to make you happy in heaven, you will have it!

Spring is here. Be good to your garden, birds and stray animals.

I haven't received any fan mail this week.  I guess that is because John Trivolta is in town.  Your letters are always welcome.

Raphael, the cat who really, truly cares.

GOOD FRIDAY WALKING STATIONS OF THE CROSS: Many facets of faith and justice will be the focus of the annual Walking Stations of the Cross, which begins with prayer at St. Joseph Cathedral at 8:00 a.m., Friday April 3, 2015. Hundreds will process throughout downtown Columbus to recognize Jesus Christ’s suffering and crucifixion as well as to reflect on current areas of social concern. Open to all ages. For more information, call Social Concerns at 614-241-2540 or Youth and Young Adult Ministry at 614-241-2565.

MARCH 28-29 - 5th SUNDAY-ST. VINCENT DE PAUL COLLECTION……As is our tradition on 5th Sundays’ throughout the year we ask for your donations to support St. Vincent de Paul. April is the 'Month of Priests'; time to recognize Pastors that have served the St. Mary Parish Community. On Sunday, April 12th we will welcome back Father Don Franks. Each Mass on that day will be followed by a reception in the school gym. At 2:00 p.m. in the Church a Sesquicentennial Jubilee Concert will be presented by the Lancaster Community Band. This will be an afternoon filled with the music of our history for the whole family to enjoy!

BLESSING OF THE FOOD….This year the blessing will be done by Father Stash Daley and it will be done in English. We will sing only in polish before the blessing. We welcome all who would like to join us.

The St. Mary young couples group will be bowling at Ten Pin Alley (
5499 Constitution Blvd, Hilliard) on April 11th at 3:00 p.m. We hope you can join us. If you’re able to make it, please email or call Emma and Charlie Sulek at or 614.330.0228 so that we can reserve enough lanes. This group will provide St. Mary young couples with the opportunity to grow spiritually while also connecting with other young married and engaged couples in the parish.

By His life, death and resurrection, Jesus opens the way for us to claim the very source of God’s wealth, God Himself. He alone is the true source of the greatness of creation and all that is good and true and beautiful.
