From the Pastor’s Desk….…

In your charity, please pray for Ronald Molchan, who’s Funeral Mass I offered at Mother of Sorrows Chapel on Saturday, November 15th and Norma Raymond, who’s anointing I mentioned in last week’s bulletin.  She has gone to Our Lord.  Her funeral will be offered at St. Timothy’s.  May they rest in peace.

There will be no Weekday Mass on Friday, November 28, the day after Thanksgiving.

Be sure and stop by the Jubilee Museum after Thanksgiving up to mid-January to see the 170 Nativity Sets.  They come from the United States, Mexico, Shri Lanka, the Philippines, Ethiopia, Spain, Italy, the Holy Land (olive wood), as well as many other places I can’t think of until I’ve had more coffee.  I’m trying to beat the deadline for the bulletin.

Have a most blessed Thanksgiving!  Mass will be offered at 10:00 a.m. on that day.  Hope to see you there.

The Lord be with you!

Father Kevin F. Lutz

From the Cat at 684 S. Third….

Those of you who have had the honor to actually look at me, you know I am blessed with a most excellent black coat with white paws.  Some cat fanciers call that a “Tuxedo Cat.”  My late and dear friend, Sister Mary Francis, called me a clerical cat, and rightly so.  It appears that I am in a cassock with a white clerical collar.

I’ve sat in on marriage preparations, funeral plans, finance meetings and countless other appointments.  I applied to the Josephinum as an adjunct professor of pastoral administration.  They chose to ignore my application.  I was a bit deficient in Latin.  I tend to roll my R’s (I must be Italian in my lineage).

Since I cannot teach there, I will content myself instructing all of you.  Father continues to tell me how well I am received – naturally.

Thanksgiving is just around the corner.  Buy some extra groceries and bring them to church for the poor.  Please don’t give the poor cans of hideous vegetables that you yourself hate.  When you buy those extra cans, pretend you’re shopping for your dear parents, and not to annoy your overbearing friends that you hope won’t return for a meal for a long time.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Raphael, the Clerical Cat

NEWS WORTHY NOTES

ADOPT A FAMILY…will once again be providing toys and food for a number of families in our parish and school this Christmas. This year we will be also including some of our parish’s homebound elderly. Last year’s generous support allowed us to provide gifts and food to 13 families. Please prayerfully consider participating this year and sharing the joy of Christmas with others. To participate, pick an “ornament” from the Christmas tree at the back of the church, beginning  Sat., Nov. 22nd after the 4:00 p.m. Mass.  Purchase the requested gift or gift card and attach the “ornament” to the gift. Please do not wrap the gift (gift bags are ok) and return to the Giving Tree by Sunday, Dec. 14th.

THANK YOU….from the Sesquicentennial committee to the families of Carl Rau, Mary Saul, and Thomas Schultz for their contributions of historical material for the Saint Mary archives.
