From the Pastor’s Desk….…

October is the month of the Rosary.  Let us offer it for peace.  The daily news is very disturbing with murders, threats and tensions.  I will announce a couple of occasions for the rosary together.  Mark your calendar for Family Rosary Day next Sunday at St. Joseph Cathedral at 3:00 p.m.

Sister Vianneya, OP, came to visit Saint Mary School this week.  Sister is still learning English, but does more than a good job with it currently.  Sister will be a volunteer in the pre-school and will also visit other religion classes in the course of the week.  Sister comes to us from her native home of Poland.  Sister had quite a crowd sitting with her at lunch in the school.  The children had many questions and Sister enjoyed answering them.

I went and took pictures of the altar that is coming to St. Mary for our sesquicentennial shrine.  If all goes well there will be a picture in the back of the church for your consideration.  IT is an impressive bit of stone.

The Lord be with you!

Fr. Kevin Lutz

From the Cat at 684 South Third Street . . .

I saw the nun today.  I like her habit: black and white - just like mine.  Sister is a Dominican.  In fact, I may call myself a Domini-cat!  Sister brought back memories of my old friend Sister Mary Francis.  I used to go to her office and give her rosary a good workout.  Whenever she walked through the house I'd follow her and try to catch her cord or rosary.  Oh, I was young then and Sister was old.  I could easily catch her.  She seemed to enjoy our little game.  Now there's a new Sister and she is young and I am old.  Probably won't be able to catch her, but perhaps I'll get a chance to swing at her rosary for old times sake.  Ask her to visit if you see her.

The nice thing I remember about Sister's rosary was that it looked like it got a lot of use.  How worn out does your rosary look? I heard Father once say that some people, if they came back to life in the funeral home, might be frightened to find a rosary in their hand, and die a second time!  Use it a lot while you're alive, so that it will look natural when you get the Final Summons.

In grati-cat-itude,

Raphael, the Irresistible Cat (just try!)
