From the Pastor’s Desk….…

In your charity please pray for the following souls who have died: Lou Fabro, Phillip Brokaw, Dora Morgan, and Thomas Burton.

I saw a hideous sight!  A tree was changing colors.  That is usually a beautiful sight, but it's all too soon.  Wait till October, dear trees. I hope they listen.  Not likely.  I didn't get much cooperation from the snow last year either.

Next weekend on Saturday is the Walk for the Poor sponsored by the St. Vincent dePaul Society.  Please help out.  Your kind donations to St. Vincent do much good.  We get many requests and that even include funerals.  100% of the gifts to SVDP go to charity. No overhead.  It is a voluntary society.  It's great to see the effects, but for the most part you will never know the path your dollar took, but I assure you it was one of the most worthy. I remember the Sisters teaching me in school and telling me that the poor would be there at the Gates of Heaven and would tell Our Lord what we did for them in His Name.  It is Christ whom we serve.

Hello!  Do you know of (or own) some storage facility not too far from here where items could be stored that are not currently needed, but might be used in the future?  Let me know.  We are able to give a tax credit for the use of the space.  I am looking for long term rather than a few months.  Talk among yourselves.  See what you come up with.

I walked into my Lain Class today and one of the students was sitting in my place and said, "We've been waiting for you, Mr. Lutz.  Have a seat."  Aren't they cute?  Quae cum ita sint in diebus illis . . .

The Lord be with you!

Father Kevin F. Lutz

From the cat at 684 South Third . . .

How are you all?  I'm OK, but I am feeling the burden of the years.  Even Father was surprised when he pet me the other day to see that I am getting thin.  I've lost a little weight, but I can still get around and climb the stairs.  Ten years ago the vet said I had less than six weeks to go.  Well!  I guess I showed him.

Are you taking good care of your health?  Get a doctor.  See a doctor.  Eat better.  Does a cat have to tell you these things? See how I watch out for you!  Father will help you with your soul, but I am here to remind you to take good care of yourself.  We cats don't fall down very often (the advantage of four legs), but I remind you to watch out on the German Village sidewalks and use handrails when you can.  I am especially speaking to my peers in the congregation - those over 100 (as I reckon it).

Heavenly Father, I am sure there are frequently tiny miracles where you protect us and are present to us although you always remain anonymous. Help me appreciate how carefully you watch over me and my loved ones all day long, and be sensitive enough to stay close to you. I ask this in Jesus's name. Amen.-from Stories of Jesus
