From the Pastor’s Desk….…

In your charity please pray for the repose of the soul of Thomas Walter, who was married at St. Mary's in the 1950s.  I offered his funeral Mass at St. Ladislas on Wednesday.  May he rest in peace.

A good number of donations have come in for the debt reduction and people have been writing "for debt reduction only" on them. Do not be afraid to do that.  I will strictly apply any such gifts to debt reduction only, as you have requested.  I really appreciate your openness to help me with this.  I heard some very encouraging words last week after the appeal.  Please consider a donation somewhere between $250 - $800.  If all donated in that range, the debt would quickly go away.  But I realize that, for many reasons, not all can do that.  So, I ask those of you who can do that and more to hit this out of the park.

Last week, the students at the school did a beautiful May Crowning with Rosary in honor of the Blessed Mother.  Today, Mothers' Day, let us not forget to honor our own mothers, who have sacrificed so much for us and to whom we owe the gift of life.  If you are blessed to have your mother still in this world, honor her today --- and everyday!  If she has already gone to God, remember her soul in prayer along with all the faithful departed.

Upcoming event: Biblio Benefit at St. Andrew's Church on May 16th from 7:00-10:00 p.m., featuring the luminescent Sister Chandelier. (see announcement below)

Are you going to the German Village Valuables Sale on May 17th Please do!  And if you see anything that looks like it ever belonged to St. Mary or a Catholic church, please rescue it. Also, if you are a keen shopper, come see me after Mass for a special list of things the Jubilee Museum is looking for.

The Lord be with you!

Father Kevin Lutz

FROM THE CAT AT 684 S. 3RD

Greetings to the human parishioners of St. Mary!  I often overhear the pastor discussing his plans and goals.  He frequently expresses his concerns regarding the parish debt.  I hope this debt will soon be gone so we can start working on important projects.  My personal idea is an immense scratching post to rival the tower.  I am sure Father will not grant my request, but will probably want to do other things like fixing the archaic wiring in the church or repairing the sidewalk out front that is often confused with the craters of the moon.

Keeper of the Golden Mousetrap,

Raphael the Cat
