In your charity please pray for the soul of James Younger, 73, a graduate of Ohio Dominican and Xavier, a police officer for the Ohio State University and a member of the Army Reserves.  His funeral was held at St. Mary's a week ago Friday and burial was in Union Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Mary and their son, Jason.   May he rest in peace.

Remember, also the soul of Dick Hilshimer, who died Wednesday this past week and whose funeral was held on Saturday.

A reminder, the Gala is a week away.  Even though registration closes this weekend, call the office if you want to go.  There are a few open seats and people do cancel at the last minute due to a change in plans.  Let's fill the house and have a great time for a great cause.

Winter is having its way.  No mercy, it seems.  I am scheduled to visit a man in the hospital who suffered from great frostbite and lost several extremities.  Pray for him.  Pray and help the homeless by helping the organizations that help them. Sometimes people think it’s OK to give money even for a beer. That's the problem.  Some people get intoxicated to such a degree that they fall asleep and in some cases even die from exposure. True compassion asks us to help in an effective way.  Buy a few burgers off the dollar menu and give them away.  Don't roll the window down too far; not all these guys are nice.  The Salvation Army is one of the most effective programs for getting people clean and sober.  There's a good investment.

The Lord be with you!

Free piano.  Do you need an upright piano in good condition?   You know you do.  Call Ann in the office and leave a message. There is already a piano and an organ in the rectory.  And a baby grand is being donated to the school.  I don't want another piano in the house!  Did you ever note the spaces between the keys? That is the range in which cats sing.  We sing always in the cracks and never hit a true note on your mysterious instruments. If only you appreciated our mellifluous howling.

Our speaker will be Deb Sabo, an instructor from Ohio Dominican University. Deb will be speaking on women in the church from the New Testament to the 21st century, specifically the changing view and role of women in church history. She'll be discussing the role of our Blessed Mother versus Mary Magdalene (along with the misappropriation of Mary Magdalene as prostitute) and other women saints of note. Additionally she will speak on Vatican II and how that changed the role of women laity and finally addressing Pope Francis' recent call for a new and deeper theology of women. Theology On Tap is an invitation for young adults to learn more about their faith and to share in their Catholic community. Contact: or
