2013-2014 RCIA

This week’s session of RCIA will focus on “Truth”. Father Lutz will lead this discussion. If you know anyone that is interested in learning about the Catholic faith; has been away from the church; has not been confirmed; or if you would like to be a sponsor for someone this year, then the Rite of Christian Initiation (RCIA) is for you. All are welcome. For more information please contact RCIA Directors Mike or Maureen Keebaugh. Contact Mike @ 614-323-6715 or mjk18@att.net . Contact Maureen @ 614-323-7293 or mkeebaugh@att.net

ENHANCED HEARING DEVICES

Father Lutz recently approved the purchase of enhanced hearing devices that will be made available to parishioners upon request. The acoustics within the walls of our beautiful Sanctuary sometime make it difficult to hear; these devices will help those who have difficulty hearing clearly the Word and the Homily.

AN INVITATION TO SING

As the St. Mary Liturgical Choir begins its new season, I ask you to consider joining us.  We are in need of your voice so that we may lead the congregation in song.  It is a holy endeavor, one that is enriching and nourishing and gives to the communal worship experience of this parish.  Please consider, if only for a season, to make a commitment to sacred music here at St. Mary.  We gather at 8:15 each Sunday to warm-up and review music selections for the 9:00 a.m. Mass. Please contact Bianca De Maria, Organist/Choir Director for more information.

FIFTH SUNDAY – SEPTEMBER

We do not have a regular rotation for liturgical ministers for 5th Sundays; therefore there will be a sign up sheet at the rear of Church for altar servers, lectors and Eucharistic ministers. Please volunteer to serve in one of these capacities during this weekend. Thank you.

From the Pastor's Desk

It is late Thursday afternoon as I write this.  I was at the Priests' Convocation with the Bishop.  I ran into Father Hammond and Father Franks.  Both send their regards.  The Convocation was held at Mohican State Park.  Beautiful grounds, lodge, lake and  its great settings.  The evenings were great at the campfire and the games.  Lots of laughs.  It was good to see many priests that I would only run into at funerals.  Pray for vocations.

Tomorrow (Friday) I have the funeral of a non-parishioner at St. Joseph Cemetery.  May Deborah Cook rest in peace. She was at one time a member of the cathedral parish.

The days are getting cooler.  I'm never quite too happy with the weather.  It is either too hot or too cold.  I sound like a husband and wife arguing at the thermostat.  The temperature will be fine in Heaven.  No arguing there.

Last week I put a test in this bulletin to see how many are reading this column. Your task was to stop me after Mass and say, "There, there!"  Score:  4:00 PM = 12 greetings, 9:00 AM = 15 greetings and 11:30 AM = 8 greetings.  Good thing I wasn't passing out tickets for Heaven

A man goes to the doctor and says, "Doctor, wherever I touch, it hurts.  If I touch my head - ouch!  If I touch my shoulder - Ouch!  If I touch my knee - it really hurts - Ouch!"  The doctor studies the patient and says, "I know what's wrong with you - you've broken your finger!"

May each day bring us closer to God, to each other and to the peace that come from serving God's Holy Will.

The Lord be with you!                            Fr. Kevin F. Lutz

PS  There, there!
