In your charity please pray for the soul of Jose Avilaz. His funeral will be here Tuesday morning.  You might have read in the paper about two who were found in a burning car.  Jose was one.  His family made arrangements from California and they requested a Latin Mass for his funeral.  You might want to consider coming to this Mass especially to console the family in this sad hour.  You will also see the traditional Mass that was used long before Saint Mary began until about 1965.  Pray for an end to violence.  May Jesus protect us all.

I am teaching every day in the school a Latin Class for grades 6-8. They are all chanting the Pater Noster and amo, amas, amat. School is going well.  There is a good spirit in the air.  Many good things to come in the months ahead, not least of which will be Little Red Riding Hood in Latin. Culture Night is coming!

The sidewalk out front is in bad shape.  Repairs are on the way.  Say a prayer; throw a coin!

St. Mary's Sesquicentennial is coming up, the 150th Anniversary of the establishment of the parish. Watch this column.  We need to get a committee working for this occasion. It is a great time to motivate the whole parish and stir ourselves to many higher levels from spiritual to material.  We will cover everything from defects in our prayer life and spirituality to improvements in every crack in the buildings and sidewalks.

The Lord be with you!                               Fr. Kevin F. Lutz

Father Lutz recently approved the purchase of enhanced hearing devices that will be made available to parishioners upon request. The acoustics within the walls of our beautiful Sanctuary sometime make it difficult to hear; these devices will help those who have difficulty hearing clearly the Word and the Homily.
