10 WEEK CATHOLICISM SERIES

The 7th session of the series on Catholicism will focus on “The Word Made Flesh, True Bread of Heaven: The Mystery of the Liturgy and the Eucharist”. This series is sponsored by the Knights of Columbus and sessions are held each Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the Atrium; they typically last about one (1) hour. Each presentation is focused on a unique topic which does not require your attendance at every session.

Saint Ladislas: Tuesday @ 6:30 p.m.

Please note there will be no Mass at St. Mary on Tuesday and Wednesday. MAY 11 – RESPECT LIFE CONFERENCE

The diocesan Respect Life Conference will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at St. Andrew Church, 1899 McCoy Rd. Featured speaker is Deacon James Keating, Ph.D. of Creighton University. Mass begins at 9:00 a.m. The conference is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Registration is $15 which includes lunch. CATHOLIC YOUTH SUMMER CAMP

Join us for 6 days and 5 nights of  high adventure at Catholic Youth summer camp (CYSC): featuring activities such as paintball, jet skis, water tubing, rock climbing, high ropes, zorbing, zip-lining & more. We also teach the Catholic faith in a dynamic and engaging way through catechesis, dramas, sacred art, praise and worship, daily mass, confession, adoration and faith sharing groups that helps to foster a high adventure life of discipleship. Choose from one of our five (5) middle school weeks for students entering Grades 6-8 or one of our two (2) high school weeks for students entering grades 9-12. CATHOLIC MEN’S LUNCHEON CLUB

Msgr. Christopher Schreck, Rector and President of the Pontifical College Josephinum, will address the next Catholic Men’s Luncheon Club on “The Vocation Boom and the Josephinum.” Please plan on joining us on Friday, May 3rd at St. Patrick Church for Holy Mass at 11:45 a.m. followed by lunch and our guest speaker until 1:00 pm. No reservations necessary. $10.00 covers the lunch and meeting. Bring a friend!

 

YOUNG AT HEART

The ladies of the Young at Heart group will make their annual spring trip to McArthur on Monday, May 6th. Items needed: clothing, imperishable food items, and house-hold products. For additional information please contact Betty at 444-8802.

CATHOLIC FAMILY NIGHT W/THE CLIPPERS…will be held on Sunday, May 26.  A $15 family pass provides reserved seating on the third base side for two adults and up to four youth age 18 and younger. If any child would like to participate, they must be at Section 23 at 5:10.

·     St. Charles Drama Department will present its spring musical, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, May 2, 3, & 4 at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, May 5 at 3:00 p.m. in the St. Charles Campus Theatre, 2010 E. Broad St.  For reservations, call the school at 252-6714. Adult tickets are $10, students, $5.

·     Bishop Ready: Bishop Ready High School will present its spring musical, Godspell, on Fri., May 3 at 7:00 p.m., Sat., May 4 at 2:00 p.m.  Based on the Gospel of St. Matthew, Godspell presents the parables in song and is suitable for all ages.  Admission is $10 for adults, $9 for those 65+, and $8 for students.

THE CATHOLIC FOUNDATION is seeking a dynamic individual to fill a key position leading Planned Gifts Development. This senior level position is part of an eight member team. The position designs, implements, and manages planned giving development initiatives which benefit the needs in the Catholic community.  An ideal candidate will have an understanding of Catholic stewardship and philanthropy, the ability to develop and service key relationships, and knowledge of foundation-specific programs and services.  A bachelor degree in a related field, five years of planned giving development experience in a non-profit organization and a practicing Catholic is preferred.  Daily travel and some irregular hours.  Completion of the VIRTUS “Protecting God’s Children” course and a background screening are required.  Salary is commensurate with experience and a comprehensive benefits package is provided.  Qualified candidates should send cover letter, resume, three references and salary requirements to Admincf@Catholic-Foundation.org by May 8, 2013.

 

2013-14 BISHOPS ANNUAL APPEAL (BAA)

The 2013-14 BAA will kick off in our Parish next weekend. Our Parish family has been asked to raise $52,860.00. By giving you are helping to support programs for our retired Priests as well as Seminarians, for our youth, elderly, homeless and so much more. Please refer to the flyer in your bulletin for specifics. We ask that you prayerfully consider your gift, keeping in mind that 100% of funds that exceed our goal are returned to Saint Mary.

We are seeking volunteers to assist in the Appeal effort. If you are interested please contact the parish office.
