THE SEASON OF LENT
The three traditional pillars of Lenten observance are prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. The key to fruitful observance of these practices is to recognize their link to baptismal renewal. We are called not just to abstain from sin during Lent, but to true conversion of our hearts and minds as followers of Christ. For a variety of suggestions and resources to support your Lenten journey, enhance your prayer, and embrace your baptismal commitment, visit the U.S. Catholic Bishops’ Lent webpage at www.usccb.org/prayer-and-worship/liturgical-resources/lent.
PRESENTATION ON SAINT AUGUSTINE’S CONFESSIONS
The Pontifical College Josephinum’s Priests, Poets and Philosophers series continues Friday, March 15, as Herbert E. Hartmann, PhD, presents “An Interpretation of Saint Augustine’s Confessions” at 7:00 p.m. in the Jessing Center on the Josephinum campus. The event is free of charge and open to the public; reservations not required. For more information, please contact Dr. Caitlin Gilson, Philosophy Department Chair, at email@example.com.
On Good Friday, March 29th, we will need to prepare the Sanctuary for the 3:00 p.m. Good Friday Mass. We need a couple individuals that are not apprehensive about climbing a ladder to drape the statues on the altar in black cloth. If you can spare an hour or so on Good Friday morning please contact the parish office or email firstname.lastname@example.org
This Lent, my hope is that you will catch a new vision of the eternal Father who never fails to fulfill his word. No matter what obstacles arise, he never loses sight of his goal: to form and fashion a human family to share in the infinite love of the Trinity.
