2012-2013 RCIA

The topic of this week’s RCIA session is Moral Life of the Christian/Social Justice/Gift of Life”. The presenter is Katie Jones.  Katie Jones has a Masters in Theology from University of Dayton. If you know anyone that is interested in learning about the Catholic faith; has been away from the church; has not been confirmed; then the Rite of Christian Initiation (RCIA) is for you. All are welcome. PARENTAL PREPARATION-1ST COMMUNION AND CONFRIMATION

Ø  First Communion parental preparation meetings for children that will celebrate their 1st Communion on May 11, 2013 will be held on the following Sundays: Jan. 27, 2013; and Mar. 24, 2013.

Ø  Confirmation: Father will meet with the parents and those to be confirmed on February 10, 2013. If possible sponsors are encouraged to attend this meeting.

These meetings will be held in the Atrium following the 9:00 a.m. Mass. These meetings are mandatory if you want your child to participate in these Holy Sacraments.

 

JANUARY 2013 JORDAN CONFERENCE

The quarterly Jordon Conference for parents who wish to have a child baptized will be held on Tues. Jan 22, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. in the Atrium. Clergy Who Cook returns to the Josephinum Jessing Center! Enjoy a taste of heavenly cuisine and help our future priests on Friday, February 1, 2013. Clergy of the diocese will prepare samples of their favorite dishes from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m. Guests vote for their favorite chef with cash donations. Cost is $40 per person; cash beverage bar. Advance reservations are required; tickets not available at the door. Reserve by check payable to the Friends of the Josephinum; mail to Friends of the Josephinum 7625 N. High St. Columbus, OH 43235. RESPECT LIFE MASS – JANUARY 22

Bishop Campbell will be the celebrant at a Respect Life Mass on Tuesday, January 22, 2013, 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Cathedral, 212 E. Broad Street, Columbus.  On this day of the anniversary of the United States Supreme Court decision Roe v. Wade, our diocese will join all of the dioceses of the United States in observing a Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children.  We hope you can come. 

 

RALLY FOR LIFE AT THE STATEHOUSE -JANUARY 22 

A Rally for Life sponsored by Greater Columbus Right to Life will be held following the Mass at Noon at the Statehouse west plaza.  Many of those participating in the Mass will be walking to the Statehouse.

 

MARCH FOR LIFE IN WASHINGTON, DC -JANUARY 25

For those who plan to attend activities in Washington, DC, related to the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, please visit the U.S. Catholic Bishops’ National Prayer Vigil for Life website at http://www.usccb.org/about/pro-life-activities/january-roe-events.  There are many groups from around the diocese planning on participating in the March for Life in Washington, DC, on January 25.  Please see the list of bus trips posted on the bulletin board at the rear of Church.  Seats are still available.  Please RSVP as soon as possible.

Ø  Ash Wednesday Masses will be celeb rated at

8:20 a.m., noon and 7:00 p.m.

Ø  Stations of the Cross will rotate again this year between Corpus Christi, St. Ladislas and St. Mary. The schedule is as follows: Feb. 15 @ Corpus Christ; Feb. 22 @ St. Mary; March 1 @ St. Ladislas; March 8 @ Corpus Christi; March 15 @ St. Mary and March 22 @St. Ladislas. Stations will be prayed each Friday throughout Lent at 7:00 p.m.
