FEAST of THE HOLY FAMILY
Traditionally, the Church places the Feast of the Holy Family on the weekend following Christmas. Let us pray for our families:
Father, help us to live as the Holy Family, united in respect and love. Teach us the sanctity of human love, show us the value of family life, and help us to live in peace. We are united with Jesus, Mary, and Joseph because in your great love for us you sent your son to live in this world and to share our human experience. Help us to love each other as you love us, and to be more aware of those families in the world who struggle with poverty, war, and disease. Bring us all to the joy and peace of your eternal home. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen
JANUARY 1 -- WORLD
Benedict XVI will release on January 1: “Blessed are the peacemakers.” In his 2013 Message for World
Day of Peace, Pope Benedict XVI reminds us that we all have a role to play in building peace in our communities and world. His 2013 message focuses on human dignity, rights and responsibilities, as well as the fiftieth anniversary of John XXIII’s Pacem in Terris. For more information, visit
war-and-peace/world-day-of-peace.cfm or contact the diocesan Office for Social Concerns at (614) 241-2540.
BE NOT AFRAID
Lord, I wait for you. In the deep of this winter season come to me. Assure me that your strength is my own: Your courage inspires me to be unafraid. Your light will warm and lead me on. Amen.
DID YOU KNOW… that every snowflake is different? Think of all the piles of snow you’ve ever seen, and imagine the miracle of each unique, individual flake. Our lives are like that: every day is different, filled with special, one-of-a-kind moments that cannot be repeated. Our children are different: each a unique creation with a purpose all their own. As the New Year begins, take a moment to ponder the miracle of your family – to give thanks for the unique gifts they each have been given, and to think about how you can nurture and encourage those gifts in the coming year.
