The Pontifical College Josephinum’s 2012-13 Priests, Poets, and Philosophers series continues Tuesday, November 27, as Father George William Rutler presents “On the Curé d’Ars Today: Remarks on St. John Vianney” at 7:00 p.m. in the Jessing Center on the Josephinum campus. Father Rutler, a priest of the Archdiocese of New York, is a widely-known and well-respected author and speaker. He has made documentary films in the United States and England, contributes to numerous scholarly and popular journals, and has published 16 books. Since 1988, his weekly television program has been broadcast worldwide on EWTN. The lecture is free of charge and open to the public; reservations not required. Bishop Frederick F. Campbell asks the people of the Diocese of Columbus to pray for all of those affected by the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy and to help support the recovery effort. All monies donated toward this effort will be sent by the Diocese of Columbus to Catholic Charities USA, the arm of the Catholic Church in the United States which coordinates domestic disaster relief efforts. Catholic Charities USA is currently assessing long term recovery needs and providing immediate relief in partnership with other disaster organizations and governmental entities along the eastern seaboard.

Contributions may also be mailed directly to the Catholic Diocese of Columbus, Finance Office, 198 E. Broad St., Columbus, OH 43215. Please be sure that you include “Hurricane Sandy Relief” on the memo line of your check.

ü  Adopt-a-family update: Beginning this weekend and continuing next weekend the Adopt-a-Family team will be in the back of the Church after each of the weekend Masses. Please pick a wish list card that contain gifts for children; the gift card baskets are for family use for items from a local grocer, a discount store, or a gas fill up. Thank you to Pam Schaal at  and  Jennifer Groves at for their commitment to this project.   

ü  Christmas Tree Sale: Volunteers are needed for this annual fund raising project that support various school activities and the Knights of Columbus. There will be a representative at the rear of the Church after each of the weekend Masses to sign up volunteers.

ü  Maennerchor/St. Mary Bell Choir Concert: This concert is scheduled for Dec. 2, 2012, which is also the same day as German Village Lights. St. Mary Church will be open from 3:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. We are seeking volunteers to donate 1-2 hours of their time to welcome our guest throughout this day. If you can help please contact the parish office. 


HIGH SCHOOL CYO BASKETBALL PLAYERS: The Diocesan Recreation Association wants you!  Parish CYO weekend basketball games will begin in December; boys and girls in grades 9-12 are eligible to play.  Team formation and High School Sport Information Sheet deadline is Nov. 27. Our students, teachers and administrators are preparing to kick off the holiday season with the annual Chili and Carols which is set for Dec. 7, 2012.

The Christmas program is scheduled for Monday, December 17th.

HOLIDAY CONCERT TO BENEFIT CORPUS CHRISTI CENTER OF PEACE……. featuring “J Plays H” - an ensemble featuring harp and French horn - along with Tenor Mark Ballard and Mezzo Soprano Sarah Rhorer, on Sunday, December 9, at 6:30 p.m. at Corpus Christi Church, 1111 E. Stewart Avenue. This concert is sponsored by Edgewood Acres Civic Association to benefit the work of Corpus Christi Center of Peace. Free will donations accepted and appreciated.


There is no greater worship than the Mass, where we witness the salvation won for us by the Lord Jesus Christ. In all the sacraments we encounter God in a deeply personal way. In the Eucharist we also celebrate our unity with our fellow Christians.
