2012-2013 RCIA

The topic of this week’s RCIA session is “Call to Conversion”. The presenter is Mike Keebaugh. 7:15 p.m. - Schiller statue illumination ceremony.  The free program includes a concert by the Harmony Project community chorus, a reading of "The Ode to Joy" by Director of Actors' Theatre John Kuhn, lighting of the statue, and the playing of the final movement from Beethoven's 9th Symphony over a glockenspiel installed in the St. Mary's Church bell tower for this week-end.

Sunday, September 9:

Noon-1:30 p.m. - Bring a picnic or buy from food trucks. 

1:30 -3:15 p.m. - Experience living history vignettes on a variety of topics related to Schiller Park's history. 

3:30 p.m. - Enter the pie-baking contest and scavenger hunt.

4:15 p.m. - Join the "family photo" around the Schiller statue. 

4:30 - Dessert for the day is an ice cream social (with Jeni’s ice cream).  Everything on Sunday is free.   



St. Timothy Church and St. Timothy Knights of Columbus Council 14345 will host the 2012 Blue Mass on Friday, September 7, 2012 at 5:00 p.m.  The Blue Mass is an opportunity to honor and pray for all active, retired and deceased police, firefighters, and emergency medical services. In addition, it is an occasion to remember the 2,973 who lost their lives in the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The Blue Mass will be celebrated by Bishop Frederick F Campbell, DD, PhD at St. Timothy Church, 1088 Thomas Lane.

TALK WITH BISHOP CAMPBELL….Tues, Sept 4 on AM 820. Join the Most Reverend Frederick F. COLUMBUS THEOLOGY ON TAP…. will be held on Thursday, September 13th, 2012 from 7:00 - 9:00pm at EL VAQUERO (3230 Olentangy River Road).  Our presenter will be Jerry Freewalt speaking on the topic of ‘Faithful Citizenship.’  The admission is free.  Come join other young adults from the Diocese of Columbus to enjoy food, drinks, and a great Catholic speaker.  All you need to do is bring yourself, money for food & drink, a desire to gather and learn with other young adults. Parade, Mass, Family Picnic – Sponsored by the Knights of Columbus

The Columbus Metropolitan Assemblies of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus will celebrate Labor Day 2012 with a parade, Mass and family picnic on Monday, September 3, 2012.

The parade will begin at 10:00 a.m. @ Columbus City Hall, corner of Marconi & West Broad St., marching east on Broad St. to St. Joseph Cathedral, 212 E. Broad Street, for the celebration of 11:00 a.m. Mass. Immediately following Services, the 2nd annual Labor Day family picnic will begin in the alley directly behind the church.  Cost of the lunch will be $10.00 per person and can be paid at the food tent. Hamburgers/cheeseburgers, bratwursts, hotdogs, baked beans, potato salad and coleslaw along with lemonade and iced tea will be served.

·     Please join us Sunday, September 16 following the 9 a.m. Mass for the Blessing of the Corpus Christi Center of Peace (the former rectory – 1111 Stewart Ave.) The Center of Peace will be a place for counseling, group meetings, community programs, days and evenings of reflection, and small group retreats.  The blessing will be followed by an open house that will include tours of the facility and light refreshments

3 ½ years old thru high school for the Parish School

Plans are in the works to schedule an altar serving training session within the next 3-4 weeks. Please watch your bulletin for specific details.

Our 2012-13 Seminarians will soon begin their apostolic works. Two of these young men will make home visits to our home bound parishioners. 



On Friday, Sept. 14th Annette Franks, Father Franks’ sister, will present a seminar on Empowering Ourselves as Women. This event will be held at the Hilton Columbus @ Easton beginning at 9:00 a.m. Light refreshments will be served. Your RSVP is required by calling 614.234.5433.
