ROAD TO COURAGE

O Blessed Mother, show us the road to courage. Mary, valiant Lady, arouse within us a heroic attitude toward our faith in Christ. Catholic martyrs from the days of the early Church to modern times stood up for their faith. It's never too late to believe.

“THE BELLS OF SAINT MARY….emanating from our Church Bell Tower during homecoming this year is the result of a Chime Master Electronic Carillon system with four speakers that has been temporarily installed in our bell tower due to the efforts of the “Chime Master System Company of Lancaster Ohio and “The Friends of Schiller Park”.  The system will be used to play Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy” the week end of September 8th. The lyrics for the last movement of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony were written by Schiller.

The cost of renting the system and installing it has been paid for by a grant obtained by The German Village Society for the purpose of celebrating the Columbus Bicentennial. The statue of Schiller has been refurbished and lights installed to illuminate the statue at night. The lights will be turned on for the first time with a 15 minute ceremony beginning at 8:00 PM on September 8.   The system will be removed from our bell tower following the celebration. We thank both the Chime Master Systems Company and The Friends of Schiller Park for providing us with the opportunity to play The Bells of Saint Mary this homecoming week end.
