Over the next couple weekends there will be a festival committee representative at the rear of the Church with volunteer signup sheets. Please consider donating 2-3 hours of your time to support this year’s festival. You may also contact Pam Makowski at 614.245.0488 or email email@example.com to volunteer.
· We will have posters in the back of the church for anyone that has a location to display these signs.
We are in the process of updating our parish records, if you have moved, changed your phone number, cancelled your land line, or had a baby please contact the parish office or email Ann Anderson at firstname.lastname@example.org so the information in our parish records is accurate. Thank you.
High School All Class Reunion will be held on
We are looking for volunteers to host/serve coffee and doughnuts between the 9:00 a.m. and Masses. This requires only a commitment of one Sunday every couple months. Please consider giving of you time for this special ministry. Please contact Marge Smigelski at 614.871.8142 for additional information.
Our coffee and doughnut social hour is a special time for our parish family’s to gather together to share good times, laughter and camaraderie.
Concerns regarding insurance liabilities have recently been brought to our attention regarding the safety of the youngest members of our parish family. We are requesting our parents to instruct their children accordingly:
Ø NO CLIMBING ON THE BLEACHERS
Ø PLEASE DO NOT THROW FOOTBALLS OR BASKETBALLS DURING THIS HOUR.
In a nutshell we are asking our children to abide by the same rules they follow during the school day.
Our goal is to insure the safety of everyone.
FEAST DAYS-WEEK OF JULY 23RD
ST. JAMES, THE APOSTLE….The feast day of St James is celebrated on the 25th of July. Saint James is the Patron Saint of Spain and according to legend, his remains are held in Santiago de Compostela in Galicia (Spain). The traditional pilgrimage to the grave of the saint, known as the "Way of St. James", has been the most popular pilgrimage for Western European Catholics from the early Middle Ages onwards. 125,141 pilgrims registered in 2008 as having completed the final 100 km walk (200 km by bicycle) to Santiago to qualify for a Compostela.
For those who wonder what we can learn from people we know nothing about and how we can honor them, we must focus on why they are honored by the church. Whatever their names or the facts of their lives, the truth is that it was the parents of Mary who nurtured Mary, taught her, brought her up to be a worthy Mother of God. It was their teaching that led her to respond to God's request with faith, "Let it be done to me as you will." It was their example of parenting that Mary must have followed as she brought up her own son, Jesus. It was their faith that laid the foundation of courage and strength that allowed her to stand by the cross as her son was crucified and still believe.
Such parents can be examples and models for all parents.
