A MESSAGE from the MARRIAGE AND FAMILY LIFE OFFICE…..Did you know that every snowflake is different? Think of all the piles of snow you’ve ever seen, and imagine the miracle of each unique, individual flake. Our lives are like that: every day is different, filled with special, one-of-a-kind moments that cannot be repeated. Our children are different: each a unique creation with a purpose all their own. As the New Year begins, the Marriage and Family Life Office asks you to take a moment to ponder the miracle of your family – to give thanks for the unique gifts they each have been given, and to think about how you can nurture and encourage those gifts in the year to come.

JANUARY IS “POVERTY IN AMERICA AWARENESS MONTH”

Today, nearly 44 million Americans are living below the poverty line.  Many are our neighbors in our diocese.  To bring attention to this national crisis, the catholic campaign for human development (CCHD) designated January as “poverty in America awareness month.”  This month of observance, we devote our efforts to heightening the nation’s understanding of the scope of the problems of poverty and work to break the cycle.  For more information go to www.povertyusa.org or call the office for social concerns at (614) 241-2540.
