2011-12 RCIA and BIBLE STUDY

Both RCIA and the Bible study group will take a Christmas/New Year break over the next two (2) weeks. Both will resume their normal weekly schedule beginning January 4, 2012.

 

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Ø  Liturgical ministers are needed to assist at the

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day Masses. Please sign up on the sheet posted on the bulletin board in the back of Church to assist as a Lector or Extraordinary minister at one of these four (4) Masses.

Ø  We are also in need of volunteers to serve as

Extraordinary ministers at our weekend masses. We have several openings, especially for the 1st and 2nd Sundays of each month. Please contact the parish office at 445-9668 or email ann@stmarygv.com  if interested in serving.

JANUARY JORDAN CONFERENCE

REMINDERS

 

UPCOMING EVENTS at ST. LEO

December 21, 2011–7:00–8:00 p.m.: Join us for a Holy Hour before Our Lord as we admire St. Leo Church’s historic crèche.

December 29, 2011 at 7:00 p.m.: Come rejoice in the Birth of Jesus with a Family Mass.  Father Ty Thompson, just ordained this last May, will be celebrating the Mass.  This is Father Ty’s first Mass at St. Leo’s.  He always enjoyed following our refurbishing and used to assist Mike Wolf in “exercising” the organ.

 

VOLUNTEERS are needed to decorate the Church for Christmas. We will meet following the 5:30 Mass on December 22nd. If you can spare an hour or so, come help beautify the Church as we prepare to celebrate the birth of our Lord.

 

NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

YOUTH & YOUNG ADULT MINISTRY: Columbus Blue Jackets Catholic Family Night. Join us and other Catholics as the Columbus Blue Jackets take on the Phoenix Coyotes on January 13, 2012 at Nationwide Arena. For additional information contact the Office of Youth/Young Adult Ministry at 614.241.2565.

 

MUSICIANS NEEDED

We are looking for choir members and instrumentalist for the Christmas Eve 4:00 p.m. Family Mass. Choir members are expected to be in place and ready to sing at 3:30 p.m.

We will have a one hour rehearsal in the church on Sunday, December 18th following the 11:30 Mass. We ask that you attend this scheduled rehearsal. If you have questions, do not hesitate to contact Amanda Walker 614-325-1758 or email awalker40@aol.com .

Christmas Eve Midnight Mass:

We need additional adult singers to help enhance our beautiful Christmas Midnight Mass. We will also have a Handbell Choir.  If you would like to participate in the Midnight Mass Choir, please contact the parish office.

GALA UPDATE

Support the Gala by sponsoring a table. Table sponsors help underwrite the Gala and allow us to raise more for Saint Mary School. DECEMBER 25 – CATHOLIC CHARITIES COLLECTION

The annual collection for diocesan Catholic Charities will be taken up on Christmas.  This collection allows the diocese to meet a variety of basic needs directly and through diocesan agencies and organizations including J.O.I.N. (Joint Organization for Inner-City Needs), St. Stephen’s Community House, Catholic Social Services, St. Francis Center, St. Lawrence Haven, St. Vincent Family Center, and the St. Vincent de Paul Society.  You can help share in this important work by generously supporting the Catholic Charities collection this year.

Please use your preprinted envelopes or mark you donation accordingly.

There will be no bingo on Sunday, Dec. 25th, Christmas Day, however, bingo will be open on Sunday, Jan. 1st, New Year’s Day.

PARISH OFFICE HOLIDAY HOURS

Parish office hours during Christmas and New Year are as follows:

The week of Dec. 19th the office will be open daily from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday thru Thursday; we will be closed on Friday, December 23rd and Monday, December 26th. The office will open on Tuesday, December 27th for half days only through Friday, December 30th. We will be closed on January 2nd. Regular office hours will resume on January 3rd.
