2011-12 RCIA

The topic of discussion at the weekly RCIA meeting will be an overview of “The Sacraments”.  Maureen Keebaugh will be the presenter. If you are interested in learning more about your Catholic faith please plan to attend any or all of these sessions.  All are welcome.

 

ADVENT PENANCE SERVICE

The Sacrament of reconciliation will be celebrated Sunday, Dec. 11th at 2:30 p.m.

Please note, confessions will not be heard on Saturday, Christmas Eve.

 

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Ø  Liturgical ministers are needed to assist at the

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day Masses. Please sign up on the sheet posted on the bulletin board in the back of Church to assist as a Lector or Extraordinary minister at one of these four (4) Masses.

 

Ø  We are also in need of volunteers to serve as

Extraordinary ministers at our weekend masses. We have several openings, especially for the 1st and 2nd Sundays of each month. Please contact the parish office at 445-9668 or email ann@stmarygv.com  if interested in serving.

 

CHRISTMAS EVE AND CHRISTMAS DAY MASS SCHEDULE

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day Masses will be celebrated as follows: Christmas Eve Mass times are 4:00 p.m.; 6:30 p.m. and Midnight. 'SING A NEW SONG UNTO THE LORD'
Our new Organist/Choir Director, Bianca De Maria is recruiting voices for the Sunday
9:00 Mass.  Please consider joining us for fun, fellowship and music-making!  Rehearsals are held weekly, on Wednesday evening from 7:00-8:00 p.m. with a 'warm-up' time on Sunday mornings at 8:15 a.m. This is a wonderful way to participate and give your talent to the St. Mary community. Previous choral singing experience is preferred but NOT required.  (Note - High School students are indeed welcome!)  If interested please call the parish office for more information. 

 

JANUARY JORDAN CONFERENCE

The quarterly Jordon Conference for parents who wish to have a child baptized will be held on Tues. January 24, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. in the atrium. Please contact the parish office at 445-9668 or email Ann at ann@stmarygv.com to confirm your attendance

 

NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

UPCOMING EVENTS at ST. LEO

December 21, 2011–7:00–8:00 p.m.: Join us for a Holy Hour before Our Lord as we admire St. Leo Church’s historic crèche.

December 29, 2011 at 7:00 p.m.: Come rejoice in the Birth of Jesus with a Family Mass.  Father Ty Thompson, just ordained this last May, will be celebrating the Mass.  This is Father Ty’s first Mass at St. Leo’s.  He always enjoyed following our refurbishing and used to assist Mike Wolf in “exercising” the organ.

 

MUSICIANS NEEDED

We are looking for choir members and instrumentalist for the Christmas Eve 4:00 p.m. Family Mass. Choir members are expected to be in place and ready to sing at 3:30 p.m.

We will have a one hour rehearsal in the church on Sunday, December 18th following the 11:30 Mass. We ask that you attend this scheduled rehearsal. If you have questions, do not hesitate to contact Amanda Walker 614-325-1758 or email awalker40@aol.com .

Christmas Eve Midnight Mass:

We need additional adult singers to help enhance our beautiful Christmas Midnight Mass. We will also have a Handbell Choir.  If you would like to participate in the Midnight Mass Choir, please contact the parish office. 

 

HEALTH CARE FOR THE UNINSURED

Mount Carmel Mobile Coach provides free healthcare for the uninsured, from foot problems to flu symptoms, and all other ailments.  Their mobile unit will be at St. Ladislas on Friday, December 16th from 9 to noon, please tell anyone who may need their services to stop by 277 Reeb Avenue.  Call Carmen at 443-2828 x204 with any questions.

 

CHRISTMAS CONCERTS

o   St. Mary School students in grades 2-3-4 will present their Christmas program, “We Shall Prepareon Dec. 14th at 7:00 p.m. in the Church.

 

o   Bishop Ready High School band, along with the auxiliary bands from partner schools, will perform its Advent/Holiday Concert on Thursday, December 15, at 7:00 p.m. at the high school.  Admission is free. For more information, please call 614-276-5263.

 

GALA UPDATE

ADOPT A FAMILY UPDATE

The adopt-a-family program will wrap next weekend, Dec. 17-18. Gifts will be prepared for individual families following the 11:30 Mass on Dec. 18th, if you can spare an hour or so to help with this effort please contact Pam Schaal at delaware0808@gmail.com or call the parish office.

 

2012 CALENDARS…are now available in the back of the Church.

 

BABY BOTTLE CAMPAIGN UPDATE

Your generosity resulted in a total contribution to the Respect Life baby bottle program of an estimated $1,500.00.  Final calculations are still pending.

 

VOLUNTEERS are needed to decorate the Church for Christmas. We will meet following the 5:30 Mass on December 22nd. If you can spare an hour or so, come help beautify the Church as we prepare to celebrate the birth of our Lord.
