ADOPT A FAMILY
Each year, St. Mary's parishioners offer to help share the Christmas spirit of generosity and giving with others in our parish community. Last year we helped provide clothing, educational toys, spiritual items, and love to 17 families within our parish community. We are getting ready to start the planning process for the 2011 Adopt a Family program. If you are interested in helping please contact either Jen Groves at 614-323-5816 or Pamela Schaal (formerly Mortimer) at email@example.com. Volunteer opportunities may include assembling gift ornaments, decorating the gift tree and sorting gifts. This is a great family friendly activity during the holiday season.
booklet of prayers, rituals, ideas and activities for the Advent and Christmas seasons, “Advent and Christmas Traditions: Keeping the Seasons Holy,” is a valuable tool in making your celebration of these liturgical seasons more meaningful for you and your family. It is available for $5 (includes postage) by contacting the office at 614/241-2560 or emailing FLOMailbox@colsdioc.org. A companion version for the seasons of Lent and Easter is also available.

The month of November is dedicated to remembering the saints and our deceased family members and friends. As you seek to live out your own call to holiness, the Marriage and Family Life Office encourages you to look for inspiration and strength in reflecting on the lives of those powerful men and women of faith who lived Gospel lives. “The life of holiness… constitutes the simplest and most attractive way to perceive at once the beauty of truth, the liberating force of God’s love, and the value of unconditional fidelity to all the demands of the Lord’s law, even in the most difficult situations. For this reason, the Church… has always invited believers to seek and to find in the saints… the model, the strength, and the joy needed to live a life in accordance with God’s commandments and the Beatitudes of the Gospel.”
Pope John Paul II, Veritatis Splendor, No. 107.2
