THE MARRIAGE AND FAMILY LIFE OFFICE….. asks you to make note that Monday, September 26th  has been set aside as “Family Day - A Day to Eat Dinner with Your Children.” Family Day is the national movement that reminds parents that Dinner Makes A Difference! The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse (CASA) at Columbia University launched Family day in 2001 after its research consistently found that the more often kids eat dinner with their families, the less likely they are to smoke, drink or use drugs. Those kids are also likelier to get better grades in school and have an excellent relationship with their parents. Join families across the country in sitting down that evening to eat together, without hurry or distraction. Rediscover the sacredness of the family meal.

Lord, it is good to be together. We thank you for the love we share as we share this meal. May it strengthen us to live in service to you and one another. Amen

Your bulletin this week includes the third set of inserts that will explain and prepare you for the changes to the Mass that will begin with the 1st Sunday of Advent, Nov. 27, 2011.

Beginning this weekend, Sunday, the 25th, and for the next four (4) consecutive Sundays, there will be an opportunity to discuss the upcoming changes in more detail. If you are interested, come to the Burkley Center Atrium at 10:15 or immediately following the 9:00 Mass for a one hour overview presented by Deacon Roger Minner. This week the discussion will center on the greeting and Gloria.

THE MARRIAGE AND FAMILY LIFE OFFICE... reminds you that the Feast of the Guardian Angels is commemorated on October 2. Angels abound in Scripture. There they display God’s generous care, comfort, and healing. While belief in guardian angels is not at the level of dogma, St. Basil says with confidence, ―Beside each believer stands an angel as protector and shepherd leading him to life (CCC, #336). Angels serve to demonstrate—and exemplify—the wonderful workings of God in our lives. Angel of God, my Guardian dear, To whom God's love commits me here, Ever this day be at my side, To light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen.

In order to better foster dedication to consecrated religious life among women of the Diocese of Columbus, Bishop Campbell will once again host the annual Marian Dinner. To join us for the evening, simply contact Ruth Ann Eramo at the Chancery Office (614-224-2251 or to have your and your guests’ names added to the list of those attending (so that our office will be able to order the correct number of meals).

The Diocese of Columbus’ annual Family Rosary Day will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, October 16th at Christ the King Church, 2777 E. Livingston Ave. Bishop Frederick F. Campbell will be the celebrant, and Fr. Joshua Wagner, pastor of St. Dominic and Holy Rosary/St. John parishes as well as spiritual director of the Legion of Mary, will be the homilist.
