ü  You will also find in your bulletin this week a volunteer signup sheet for our parish homecoming festival. The success of this fund raiser depends greatly on the volunteer participation of parishioners. Please take a moment to check out the volunteer options, fill out the form and turn it into the parish office or a member of the festival committee.

ECONOMIC ISSUES & CATHOLIC SOCIAL TEACHING

Presented by Joseph P. Kaboski, PhD

Martin de Porres Center, 2330 Airport Drive

Saturday, July 30, 10:00 a.m.Noon

This program will offer an introduction to Catholic social teaching and its relevance to economic issues. It will include a review of the nature of Catholic social thought, and the meaning, origin, and importance of seven key principles. The first four principles concern man in the image of God, while the last three concern proper stewardship of God’s gifts. The speaker will then lead the audience into an application of these principles, integrating them with current economic knowledge to discuss two important questions: (1) minimum wages and the rights to work and a just wage, and (2) globalization and the developing world. Suggested donation is $10.00. Please register by July 28.

RED CROSS APPEAL

In May and June, donations were at the lowest level the Red Cross has seen in this time frame in over a dozen years, while demand for blood products remained steady. Because of that, the Red Cross needs blood donors now more than ever. All types are needed, but especially O negative, which can be used to treat any patient. We highly encourage all type O negative blood donors who meet the eligibility requirements to double the difference by becoming a double red cell donor.  If eligible, you can give two donations at once. PLEASE, if you’re blessed with the gift of good health, consider whether  you or your family can give.  Visit www.Givelife.org or contact the local American Red Cross office at (614) 794-7900.
