We are in need of small baby food jars for use at baptisms.
If you have a new baby or know of someone that does please save your jars and ask them to do the same. You can drop them off at the parish office or leave them at the rear of church when you come to mass. Thank you.
The 2011 BAA campaign is winding down and response has been positive. Thanks to everyone who has given. In addition to meeting the financial goal set by the Diocese (which we have not yet met), we have set as a parish goal to increase our percentage of contributors. If you have not yet done so, please prayerfully consider giving to this appeal, keeping in mind that all dollars over and above the diocesan goal return to St. Mary Church.

SAINTS FOR THE MONTH OF JUNE
Catholic saints are holy people and human people who lived extraordinary lives. Each saint the Church honors responded to God's invitation to use his or her unique gifts. God calls each one of us to be a saint.
St. Anthony of Padua (1195-1231)
Comment: Anthony can be the patron of those who find their lives completely uprooted and set in a new and unexpected direction. Like all saints, he is a perfect example of turning one's life completely over to Christ. God did with Anthony as God pleased—and what God pleased was a life of spiritual power and brilliance that still attracts admiration today. He whom popular devotion has nominated as finder of lost objects found himself by losing himself totally to the providence of God.
Quote: In his sermon notes, Anthony writes: "The saints are like the stars. In his providence Christ conceals them in a hidden place that they may not shine before others when they might wish to do so. Yet they are always ready to exchange the quiet of contemplation for the works of mercy as soon as they perceive in their heart the invitation of Christ."
Patron Saint of: Lost items, Poor, Travelers. For more on St. Anthony visit www.americancatholic.org
PICK-UP TRUCK NEEDED
Sts. Peter and Paul Retreat Center is in need of a gently used pick-up truck. If you, or someone you know, has a truck for donation to Sts. Peter and Paul, please contact Bob Overman at 888.889.8103 or 740.928.4246. Sts. Peter and Paul Retreat Center is located at 2734 Seminary Road S.E., Newark, Ohio 43056 email@example.com
Due to unforeseen circumstances we are losing 2 or 3 of the coffee and doughnut teams. We REALLY need some additional volunteers. It only requires one Sunday about every two months, for less than two hours. Coffee and doughnuts have been a tradition here at St. Mary for almost 20 years and we want to continue this tradition.
PLEASE CONSIDER HELPING. Contact Marge Smigelski at 871-8142. We would be remiss if we didn’t take this opportunity to thank Marge and Dave for their time and effort in managing the coffee and doughnut Sundays.
Gospel Road, a five day mission focused work camp for youth in grades 9-12 from Catholic churches or schools throughout the Diocese of Columbus will be held at Bishop Watterson High School on July 10 thru 14. It is a parish driven and Diocesan supported event. It is designed to allow the teens the opportunity to live the Gospel message of love while helping them learn practical skills such as painting, building, landscaping, etc.
More information and registration materials can be found on the diocesan website, www.colsdioc.org ; select office of youth and young adults.
Next weekend, June 18-19, we will host the Brothers of the Sacred Heart. There will be a 2nd collection at each of the weekend masses in support of the African missions of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart. Your contributions will especially benefit young men who are preparing to enter religious life and needy students in the African countries of: Kenya, Lesotho, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The Brothers of the Sacred Heart are religious educators who staff schools and other establishments in over thirty (30) countries. Please plan to be generous in supporting their appeal.
HOMECOMING FESTIVAL UPDATE
Plans are moving forward for our 2011 Homecoming festival which will be held this year on Friday and Saturday, August 12-13, 2011. We have included in this weekend’s bulletin a flyer seeking volunteers for the many projects and tasks that are required to make this fund raiser successful. Please take a moment to review this flyer and consider how you may best be able to help out with this annual event that brings so many back to St. Mary to renew old acquaintances.
Please check the bulletin for further updates on festival activities.
We will have raffle tickets available for purchase in the next few weeks.
