BISHOP HARTLEY CHEM CAMP

Are you tired of doing the same old things each summer?  Would you like to get a head start on high school, and have a summer experience worth talking about in the fall?  Then you need to check out Bishop Hartley's Chem Camp 2011 for students who will be going into the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades in the fall of 2011.  You'll learn science by doing science and see what chemistry is all about as you conduct experiments in a high school chemistry laboratory.  You'll also be amazed as you observe dozens of chemical demonstrations.  You may begin to look at the world around you in a whole new way.  Don't wait until high school to find out what doctors, chemists, veterinarians, pharmacists, and forensic scientists already know - that chemistry is amazing and powerful. June 20-24, from 9:00 a.m.- noon, email jprout@cdeducation.org for a registration form! Register by June 6.

YOUNG ADULT CONFERENCE…will be held at St. Thomas More Newman Center, 64 W. Lane Ave. on Saturday, April 9th beginning at 9:00 a.m. and concluding with mass at 5:30 p.m. The cost is $30.00, which includes lunch, workshops, and other conference activities. The Young Adult Conference is for young adults and young professionals throughout the state of Ohio.  Anyone 18 years of age and out of high school up to 39 years of age is invited to come check it out.  The conference is many things and in many ways can be completely what you make of it.  It can be an opportunity to network with other young adults or a chance to hear excellent speakers on such topics as Spirituality in the Workplace or Fair Trade and Social Justice.  The conference can be a retreat, a time of prayer, reflection, and reconciliation; or it can just be that chance to get away, enjoy the food, and check out the expo.   Whatever you make of your time at the conference, hopefully it will provide you with something great to take home with you.  The opportunity is yours. Where are your roots?

THE WAY OF THE CROSS

Join us on Monday, April 4th from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at the Newman Center (64 W. Lane Ave, Columbus) for the Stations of the Cross led by a local band (“Living Water” from the Church of the Resurrection). The Way of the Cross is a musical reflection on the last hours in the life of Jesus Christ and a powerful reminder of the suffering our Lord endured for our salvation.  During The Way of the Cross, we combine narrative with song and journey with Jesus as He carries the cross through the crowded streets.  As Christians, we know His sacrifice is not in vain and so the concert ends, as it began, singing a message of hope and awaiting the day of His resurrection.  The event is free, but there will be a free will offering.
