UPDATE ON FATHER THOMAS

Father Thomas celebrated the noon mass this past Wednesday, Dec. 8th. We were all thrilled to have him home with us once again.  He will gradually work himself back into the mass schedule. Please continue to keep him in your prayers.

 

RCIA

     The topic of discussion for this session will be The Real Meaning of Christmas/Our Catholic Traditions.  Meetings are held each Thurs. at 7:00 p.m. in the Atrium.  All are welcome! This will be the last meeting for 2010 as RCIA will break for the Christmas and New Year celebrations. Weekly meetings will resume on January 6, 2011.

 

BIBLE STUDY

      The bible study group which meets on Wednesday evenings will also break for the Christmas and New Year celebrations. There will be a meeting this week, Dec. 15th with weekly meetings resuming on January 5, 2011.

REMINDERS

 

ST. JOSEPH CATHEDRAL PARISH MISSION--OUR ADVENT JOURNEY TO JESUS:

You are cordially invited to attend the St. Joseph Cathedral Parish Mission on Dec. 12-15, 2010.  Schedule includes 5:15 p.m. Mission Mass each evening followed by a light supper at 6:00 p.m. in the Undercroft.  Preaching begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Cathedral.  There will be a communal Reconciliation service on Monday, the 13th, following the Mission preaching.  Mission preacher is Fr. Blaise Czaja, C.P., a Passionist priest who is a very popular and well-received preacher.  Please join us for this celebration of prayer and fellowship as we prepare for Christmas.

 

CHRISTMAS MASS SCHEDULE

The mass schedule for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and the Feast of the Holy Family is as follows:

v      Christmas Eve: 4:00 p.m.; 6:00 p.m. and midnight

v      Christmas Day: 10:00 a.m. There is no vigil mass on Christmas Day

v      The Feast of the Holy Family, Dec. 26th: our regular Sunday mass schedule will be followed

INTERESTED IN LEARNING CONVERSATIONAL SPANISH? Join the Spanish Classes for adults forming at Christ the King Church in Bexley/Whitehall, or St. Michael’s Church in Worthington. Classes are held once a week 6:00-7:00pm (Beginners) and 7:10-8:10 (Intermediate). This course will run from January 11th through May 25th. FIRST COMMUNION REQUIREMENTS

Any child who is interested in making either their First Reconciliation or First Communion should contact Erin Burkett at 444-8994 or email eburkett@cdeducation.org  no later than January 30th? First Reconciliation will be on April 17, 2011; First Communion is scheduled for May 7, 2011.

 

ADVENT CONCERT

St. Mary Magdalene located at 473 S. Roys Avenue will hold its’ annual Advent concert on Sunday, December 19th at 3:00 p.m. This concert will feature our own Bells of St. Mary’s Handbell Choir in addition to the St. Mary Magdalene Choir. A free will offering will be accepted.

 

CHRISTMAS TREE SALE-VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

The tree sale is progressing nicely.  We are well on our way to a successful campaign. Your help is still needed. We need volunteers to cover the following days: Friday, 12/17 from 4:00 to 9:00; Saturday, 12/18 from 10:00 to 10:00 and Sunday, 12/19 from noon to 6:00. CHRISTMAS LITURGICAL MINISTERS

We have placed a signup sheet in the rear of the church for those who would like to participate in the Christmas Eve and Christmas day masses as liturgical ministers. We will need altar servers, lectors and Eucharistic minister. Please note extra lectors are needed for the midnight mass.

 

MUSICIANS WANTED

We are looking for choir members and instrumentalist for our Christmas Eve masses. Children, 2nd graders or older, are encouraged to join the choir for the 4:00 mass.
