The topic of discussion for this session will be The Liturgical Year and Catholic Traditions presented by Mike and Maureen Keebaugh.  Meetings are held each Thurs. at 7:00 p.m. in the Atrium.  All are welcome!

 

MASS AT ST. LEO

On Wed., November 10, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. a Mass to celebrate the Feast of Saint Leo the Great will be held at St. Leo. Come celebrate our Patron’s Feast Day with Holy Mass & Jesus in the Eucharist!

 

EVANGELIZATION REVIVAL

The Black Catholic Ministries of Columbus is sponsoring an Evangelization Revival on Nov. 15 – 17, 2010, Monday through Wednesday, from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. each evening at Christ the King Church. The revival will kick off with an opening Mass at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 14th, also at Christ the King. The principal speaker will be Father Maurice J. Nutt. 4-S CLUB LADIES AUXILIARY DINNER

Sunday, Nov. 14th the Ladies Club will serve dinner from noon to 3:00 p.m. The cost is $7.00 per person and carry out is available.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR

We are quickly (and unbelievably) approaching the holiday season; with that in mind please note some of the upcoming seasonal events:

v Celtic Christmas Craft Bazaar - Saturday, November 13, 2010, 9:00-2:00, St. Mary School Gym, German Village, 700 S. Third St., crafts, door prizes, light lunch, bake sale.  Admission is $1, children under 16 are free.  Sponsored by the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians.

v December 3rd: Chili and Carols at St. Mary School, followed by the tree lighting ceremony at Frank Fetch Park.

v The Columbus Maennerchor, Damenchor and Kinderchor annual Christmas Concert at St. Mary at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 5th. Our own Bell choir will perform at this concert.

v December 5th”: the annual Village Lights will be held throughout German Village.  

v And, in the new year the annual St. Mary Gala to raise funds for tuition assistance will be held on January 29, 2011.

 

VINO et VERITAS  

Young adults, the next meeting of Vino et Veritas is scheduled for November 11th at 7:00 p.m. This meeting will be held at Plank’s on Parsons.

VETERANS DAY PRAYER

On November 11 as we commemorate Veterans Day, we are mindful of those currently serving our country, both here and overseas. We lift them and their families up in our prayer: Almighty God, we commend to your gracious care and keeping all the men and women of our armed forces at home and abroad. Defend them day by day with your heavenly grace; strengthen them in their trials and temptations; give them courage to face the perils which beset them; and grant them a sense of your abiding presence wherever they may be; through Christ our Lord. Amen.

 

CATHOLIC YOUTH

     Middle School students in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades are invited to “Jesus Jams” at St. Catharine Church on Sun., Nov. 21st.  The program begins in Church with Mass at 5:00 p.m. followed by the “Jesus Jam” program immediately following in St. Catharine School Gym concluding promptly at 8:00 p.m.  The Nov. 21st theme is “Deal or No Deal!”. The ultimate goal is to draw students into active participation in the life, mission, and work of their local parish community.  This event is FREE and is sponsored by Catholic Youth Summer Camp, Inc.      High School students are invited to “Holiness Revolution” at St. Dominic Church on Sat., Nov. 20th from 7:00-10:00 p.m. Challenging High Schoolers to embrace and live their Catholic faith. “Holiness Revolution” features music, skits, dramas, keynote speaker, student testimonies, and food in a unique environment. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $5.  “Holiness Revolution” is sponsored by Catholic Youth Summer Camp, Inc. PRAISE AND WORSHIP FOR THE FEAST OF CHRIST THE KING

Rod and Staff (Fr. Rod Damico’s band) will be providing music for a special gathering for praise and worship on Sunday, November 21st at 4:00 p.m. at St. Ladislas Church, 277 Reeb Ave.  The band plays original contemporary Christian music (mostly blues and rock).

Active participation is encouraged.  It will be a fun and inspiring way for families to celebrate their faith in Christ the King.
