RETREAT FOR THOSE WHO ARE UNEMPLOYED…. at St. Therese’s Retreat Center, 5277 E. Broad Street, Columbus, on Thurs., Sept. 30th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. In these difficult economic times, many individuals and families struggle with the effects of layoffs and unemployment.  This retreat is intended to provide a space for people who have recently lost their jobs or suffer from the current economic crisis to come together and know Gods’ loving presence and hear about practical strategies for new employment and connections that can be of assistance to them.  There is no cost for the retreat; a simple lunch that will be served. 40 DAYS FOR LIFE – SEPT. 22 – OCT. 31

The Greater Columbus community will be uniting with hundreds of cities from all 50 states in the 40 Days for Life campaign. Faithful believers are praying that this effort will mark the end of abortion in America. The Franciscan Sisters at the Franciscan House of Discernment and Hospitality are hosting a discernment weekend on Oct. 1-2, 2010 for women interested in religious life. The theme, Living the Franciscan Spirit in the 21st Century, will explore what it means to live a vowed religious life modeled after Francis of Assisi and their foundress, Magdalen Damen. The Nationwide Columbus Marathon needs your help! There are over 50 intersections along the German Village part of the marathon course. The more monitors at streets and alleys, the easier and safer it will be for runners, residents and drivers. All volunteers will receive a Marathon t-shirt, coffee and doughnuts, a post-race volunteer party, and the gratitude of the runners and residents of German Village. Young adults, the next meeting of Vino et Veritas is scheduled for the 2nd Thursday in October, 10/14/10, at 7:00 p.m. This meeting will be held at Plank’s on Parsons.
