Again this year we will be blessed to have two seminarians that will visit our home bound parishioners. Andrew Wellmann and Jordan Willard will take Holy Communion to those in our parish family that cannot get to mass on a regular basis. The decision has been made to change the meeting day for our RCIA sessions from Tuesday evenings to Thursday evening. The time and location will remain the same, 7:00 p.m. in the Atrium. This change is effective immediately with the next scheduled meeting set for Thurs. Sept. 23rd.  The topic for this session will be The Call to Conversion.

RETREAT FOR THOSE WHO ARE UNEMPLOYED…. at St. Therese’s Retreat Center, 5277 E. Broad Street, Columbus, on Thurs., Sept. 30th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. In these difficult economic times, many individuals and families struggle with the effects of layoffs and unemployment.  This retreat is intended to provide a space for people who have recently lost their jobs or suffer from the current economic crisis to come together and know Gods’ loving presence and hear about practical strategies for new employment and connections that can be of assistance to them.  There is no cost for the retreat; a simple lunch that will be served. Registration of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd begins this week for St. Mary’s, Corpus Christi, and St. Ladislas.  This program is held weekly at St. Ladislas parish and is for all children not enrolled in our school in need of religious formation and instruction.  Children who attended the atrium program regularly during the 2009-2010 school year will receive registration forms via the U.S Mail. If you have moved, or are new, please find registration forms in the back of church. The deadline for registration is Sunday Sept. 26.    Children ages 3 through high school are invited to participate.  Orientation for new children will take place on October 3, 2010 from 9:30 to10:30. Returning children will begin on Sunday October 10, 2010 from 9:15 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. For more information call the Office of Religious Formation at 443-2828 ext. 203. 



St. Mary School Library invites you to its 17th annual spaghetti dinner on Friday, September 24th from 4:00-7:30. Dinners include all-you-can-eat-spaghetti, meatballs, salad, bread, dessert and drink. You may eat in or take out.

Adults: $7.00 /children: $3.00 /Senior citizens: $5.00 /High school students: $5.00.  Also at the dinner: a Book Fair and raffles. You don’t want to miss this wonderful way to “pasta” time with the St. Mary community!




Due to an unavoidable scheduling conflict we will need to revise our daily mass times beginning next week, Monday, September 13th. The daily mass schedule will be as follows:

v MONDAY AND FRIDAY masses will be held at noon.

v TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY masses will be at 5:30 p.m.

Father Sylvester will celebrate daily masses until Father Thomas’s return. This schedule will remain in effect until further notice.

v The weekly school mass will continue to be held each Tuesday at 9:45 a.m. with Father Damico as the celebrant.

Father Thomas begins a month long therapy session at a nursing home this week. He sends his heartfelt thanks for the cards and prayers. Until then, please send your notes or cards to the parish office and continue to pray for Father’s complete recovery and return to St. Mary.


INTERESTED IN LEARNING SPANISH?                     Join the Spanish Classes for adults forming at Christ the King Church in Bexley, or St. Michael’s Church in Worthington. Classes are held once a week from 6:00-7:00 p.m. for beginners and 7:10-8:10 p.m. for intermediate. This course will run from Sept. 28th through Dec. 15th.  A winter/spring course will be offered for those who wish to continue. For more information and to register by Fri. The family of Evelyn Holleran would like to express their thanks and appreciation for your support and prayers during Evelyn’s recent illness and passing.



As many of you know Jason Shanks will be resigning his current position at St. Mary to take a position within the Diocese of Toledo. His last day in the office will be Oct. 1st. Next Sunday, September 26th we will gather during the coffee and doughnut hour to bid him farewell and to wish him every success in this new challenge. For the time being we will continue to see Jason and his family at mass until they finalize all the issues that arise when relocating.  Please join us as we say a parish goodbye to Jason.


40 DAYS FOR LIFE – SEPT. 22 – OCT. 31

The Greater Columbus community will be uniting with hundreds of cities from all 50 states in the 40 Days for Life campaign. Faithful believers are praying that this effort will mark the end of abortion in America.
