LITURGICAL MINISTERS NEEDED

If you are interested in serving the church as a lector or an extraordinary minister please contact the parish office at 445-9668 or email ann@stmarygv.com . Deacon Roger Minner will provide you with the guidelines and the proper procedures for assisting in this special ministry. As you can see in reviewing the liturgical schedule below we are in special need of Eucharistic ministers. 

 

CARPENTERS NEEDED

The homecoming committee is in search of carpenters to help with the repair of some of the gaming tables used for the festival. If you have a talent in this area and can volunteer two or three hours of your time please call or email the parish office at 445-9668 or ann@stmarygv.com

 

MARK YOUR CALENDAR

The 5th annual St. Mary Golf Outing is scheduled for Sunday, September 19, 2010. This event will be held at Foxfire Golf Club, Lockbourne, OH. All proceeds benefit St. Mary School tuition assistance fund and is sponsored by the 4-S Club.

 

JORDAN CONFERENCE

The quarterly Jordon Conference session for parents who wish to have a child baptized will be held on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in the atrium. Please contact the parish office at 445-9668 or email Ann at ann@stmarygv.com to confirm your attendance.

2010 CATHOLIC WOMAN/YOUNG CATHOLIC WOMAN OF THE YEAR

The Diocesan Council of Catholic Women (DCCW) is pleased to offer you the opportunity to recognize and nominate an outstanding Catholic Woman from your parish, to be honored at our 2010 Annual Catholic Woman/Young Catholic Women of the Year Awards Event on Sunday August 22, 2010 at St. Charles Preparatory School, 5:00-9:00 p.m. This year marks the 22nd Annual Catholic Woman of the Year and the 7th Annual Young Catholic Woman of the Year awards. Help us recognize those women you know who, out of love for God, give unselfishly to Family, Parish, or Community. All women who are nominated will receive recognition from Bishop Campbell at the event. Nomination forms are available on-line at www.dccw.colsdioc.org or at the rear of the church. Details for submitting a nomination are explained on the form as certain criteria are required. Nominations are due in the DCCW office by July 26. OFFICE of YOUTH & YOUNG ADULT MINISTRY UPCOMING EVENTS (note, updated information)

v June 27, July4, July 26, and Aug. 1: Catholic Youth Summer Camp (CYSC).

v July 1: Living Water, live in concert at McConnell Arts Center, Bronwynn Theater in Worthington. Cost, $5.00 for adults; $3.00 for students.

v July22,23,24: Spirit of Creation, a workshop designed to nurture the creative spirits of youth participants from all over the state by exploring the gifts that God has given them through creative writing, song, and theatre. This event will be held at St. Christopher Church.

SUMMER SPANISH CLASSES

Interested in learning conversational Spanish? Join the Spanish Classes for adults forming at Christ the King Church in Bexley, or St. Michael’s Church in Worthington. Classes are held once a week from 6:00-7:00 p.m. (Beginners) and 7:15-8:15 (Intermediate). This course will run from June 29th through Sept. 1st. A fall course will be offered for those who wish to continue. For more information and to register before June 28th, please email ColumbusSpanishClass@gmail.com .

 

REMARRIAGE PREPARATION WORKSHOP…..will be held Tuesday evenings July 13, 20, 27; August 3, 2010 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at The Catholic Center, 197 E. Gay Street, Columbus.  Cost is $50 per couple. ANNOUNCING COLUMBUS CATHOLIC BUSINESS NETWORK…..Several Catholic business people in Columbus have expressed interest in starting a networking group exclusively for Catholics in Columbus area. There are three goals of the network:
Professional: To provide the opportunity to network with fellow central Ohio Catholic leaders, professionals and organizations for greater economic and professional success.
Spiritual:  To more effectively live out our lay vocations through understanding, embracing and demonstrating the teachings of Christ as expressed by the social teachings of the Catholic Church as they apply to the people and structures serving the workplace. 
Witness: To collectively and individually give public witness, in both word and action, to authentic Catholic social teachings as they pertain to the economic/business sphere of society.
