YEAR OF THE PRIEST BREAKFAST

Last summer, Pope Benedict XVI declared a “Year of the Priest”, which will come to an end this June.  We are going to have a Year of the Priest Breakfast on Sunday, June 13, 2010, from 9:45 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the gymnasium.  This will be a time for us to celebrate the vocations of Father Thomas and Father Sylvester and thank them for answering the call and for their dedication and faithfulness to the priesthood.  Please mark your calendars and plan on attending. This will be a great opportunity to honor the priests of St. Mary’s with our presence and to pray for more vocations to the priesthood.  Bring your family and friends.  There will be information available for those discerning the priesthood and religious life.

NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS

SERVICE SATURDAY UPDATE

Thank you to all those who participated in “Service Saturday” this past weekend sponsored by St. Mary’s and Catholic Social Services. Over 50 people from across the diocese came and volunteered.  Projects ranged from pulling bushes, to stripping and painting doors, to restoring a kitchen floor.  Those served included the elderly under the poverty line.  We are especially grateful for the participation from our local Knights of Columbus and to St. Mary’s staff who donated their own hours and time to the event. The next “Service Saturday” is schedule for October 16th, please mark your calendars.

BELLS OF ST. MARY’S

Please make sure to make a contribution to our Bells of St. Mary’s Campaign in conjunction with the Bishops Annual Appeal.  We met our BAA goal.  Money now contributed stays right here at St. Mary’s!  You can see that work has begun on interior Church restoration.  We are in the process of restoring the stairs to as close to their historical look as possible. We will be replacing carpet in the back of Church, and restoring the base platforms under the side altars.  The goal is to get new carpet in the sanctuary and restore platform areas that are currently carpeted.  With your help and donations we can accomplish these goals.  Other projects needed are sidewalk repair in front of Church and painting of the Specht Center windows.

YEAR END SCHOOL NOTES

Believe it or not, another school year is winding down. We will be saying good bye to twenty eight (28) 8th graders next week. Important dates for the last week of school are:

The last day of school will be June 4th. We extend our prayers and best wishes to our 8th graders and our hopes for a safe and fun filled summer to all of our children.
