VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

We are in need of people who can volunteer to help with bingo on Sunday evenings. Bingo is our largest ongoing fund raiser; the funds generated from these weekly games contribute a significant amount of income toward the support of St. Mary’s school and parish. If you can spare one Sunday evening a month please contact the parish office at 445-9668.

 

 

CATHOLIC CEMETARY SCHEDULE

Catholic Cemeteries Memorial Day weekend office hours are as follow: Saturday May 29, 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.; Sunday May 30, 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Monday May 31, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Memorial Day Masses will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph, Mt. Calvary and Holy Cross and at 1:00 p.m. at Resurrection Cemetery.

 

 

SENIOR CITIZENS DAY CELEBRATION

The 33rd annual diocesan Senior Citizens day will be held on June 9th at Seton Parish in Pickerington. Bishop Campbell will celebrate mass at 10:30 a.m. with lunch to follow. See notice on bulletin board or contact the Office of Social Concerns at 614-241-2540.

 ATTENTION ALL MARRIED COUPLES CELEBRATING their 25th, 30th, 35th, 40th, 45th, 50th, 55th, 60th ANNIVERSARY AND EVERY YEAR THEREAFTER: Jubilee of Anniversaries 2010 will be held on Sunday, June 27 at St. Cecilia Church, 434 Norton Road, Columbus, at 3:00 p.m. The occasion includes a Mass celebrated by Bishop Frederick F. Campbell and a reception in your honor. Reservations for you and guests are necessary and must be received by Friday, June 18, 2010.

 

HOMECOMING 2010

Plans are well under way for our 2010 Homecoming festival scheduled for the weekend of August 13 and 14. You should have received your raffle tickets in the mail this past week. For additional tickets stop by the parish office. Please consider volunteering 2-3 hours during this special weekend; you can contact the parish office at 445-9668 or email Ann Anderson at ann@stmarygv.com. 

 

YEAR OF THE PRIEST BREAKFAST

Last summer, Pope Benedict XVI declared a “Year of the Priest”, which will come to an end this June.  We are going to have a Year of the Priest Breakfast on Sunday, June 13, 2010, from 9:45 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the gymnasium.  This will be a time for us to celebrate the vocations of Father Thomas and Father Sylvester and thank them for answering the call and for their dedication and faithfulness to the priesthood.  Please mark your calendars and plan on attending. This will be a great opportunity to honor the priests of St. Mary’s with our presence and to pray for more vocations to the priesthood.  Bring your family and friends.  There will be information available for those discerning the priesthood and religious life.

ST. MARY ALUMNI AWARD

Mrs. Vivian Williams has been selected as our National Catholic Education Distinguished Alumni Award recipient this year.  A presentation of the National Catholic Education Award will be made during the school Mass celebrated at 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday, May 26th.

 

ST. MARY SCHOOL NEWS

4-S LADIES AUXILLARY DINNER

The ladies of the 4-S Club will serve dinner on Sunday, May 23rd from noon until 3:00 p.m. The menu will be ham, scalloped potatoes, mixed vegetables, rolls/butter and desert. The cost is $7.00 per person and carry out is available by calling 443-0524.

Each 5th Sunday throughout the year is set aside to collect for St. Vincent de Paul. Please use your pre-printed envelopes for your donation or mark your envelope accordingly so funds can be applied properly.

 

BISHOP HARTLEY VOLLEYBALL CAMP

Vino et Veritas: Wine and Truth meets the first Thursday of every month in the basement of Gresso’s starting at 7:00 p.m.  Mark your calendars for June 3rd, Fr. Thomas will be the presenter.  We start with a wine tasting, followed by a presentation, and then we play, “Stump the Priest” where you can win a free dinner!  Bring your friends and join us for this fun evening.
