RCIA – 2009 – 2010

The RCIA session this week will be devoted to “The Sacrament of Confirmation”.  RCIA sessions are held in the Atrium every Wed, at 7:00 p.m.  Sessions are open t0 anyone interested in learning more about your Catholic faith. All are welcome!

 

 

JORDAN CONFERENCE

The quarterly Jordon Conference session for parents who wish to have a child baptized will be held on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in the atrium. Please contact the parish office at 445-9668 to confirm your attendance.

 

 

PENANCE SERVICE

Our south side parishes will join together for our area penance service for Lent on Palm Sunday, March 28th at 2:00 p.m.  

 

STATIONS of the CROSS:

Wednesday, March 24th at 4:00 p.m. at St. Leo and Friday, March 26th at 7:00 p.m. at St. Ladislas. The sacrament of reconciliation will be offered in addition to Stations on Friday evening.

SCHOOL REGISTRATION

St. Mary School Registration for the 2010-2011 school year for preschool and students in kindergarten thru 8th grade is currently open to all parents. Please contact the school office at 444-8994 for K-8 information; for information about preschool call 443.5307.

If you are receiving the Catholic Times, but find that you do not have time to read it most weeks, please let the parish office know.  We can save on postage, printing, and paper if we receive this information.

 

SAINT MARY SCHOOL MUSIC DEPARTMENT

Our spring concert will be held on Fri., March 26th and Sat., March 27th at 7:30 p.m. You are invited to attend as students present HONK Jr.  Admission is $4.00 for adults and $2.00 for students. Concessions available.

 

YOUNG AT HEART

The ladies of the Young at Heart group are planning a trip to the La Comedia dinner theatre in Springboro, OH on May 20th to see “Church Basement Ladies”. This outing is being arranged through the Dodge Recreation Center. The cost is $59.00 which includes; the bus fare, lunch and tickets to the play. Checks need to be made out to: Dodge Recreation Center, Church Basement Ladies. Checks must be received by March 28th. For more information contact Agnes at 443.4562.

YOUTH GROUP

On Sunday, Mar. 28th, the group will be going to St. Brigid’s for Vespers, a sung worship service lasting for about one half hour. We will leave St. Mary around 4:15. You must make a reservation by contacting Father at 445.9668.

The SERRA CLUB of NORTH COLUMBUS  Girls Life Awareness Youth Luncheon (LAYL) will be held on Tuesday, April 20th at Jessing Center at the Pontifical College Josephinum at 11:45 a.m. Women of high-school age are encouraged to attend.  There is no charge for this event. Sister Maria Elena, Mother Superior of the Missionary Servants of the Word, who is currently serving in the Columbus Diocese at St. Stephen the Martyr Parish will speak about discerning a vocation. A tour of the Josephinum will be offered after the luncheon. Youth interested in attending should reply to their Catholic school principal’s office or Youth Minister before Easter vacation. Adults and chaperones are welcome to attend and should RSVP to Ellyn Dekker at 614-488-3773 by April 12th.

 

CONGRATULATIONS….to the St. Mary 8th grade boys’ basketball team, and coaches Mark Johnson and Mike Gischel, on their victory in the St. Mary tournament. The tournament ended well after midnight when the boys defeated Cincinnati to win the championship. Special thanks to the volunteers who made both weekends a success.

 

The OTTERBEIN STUDENTS for LIFE…. are pleased to welcome Dr. Alveda King, niece of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., to their campus at 7 p.m. on Thurs., April 8, 2010. Dr. King, founder of King for America and director of African American outreach at Priests for Life, will give a talk entitled, “Keeping the Dream Alive,” in which she will discuss how the pro-life movement is a continuation of the civil rights movement. The event will be held at the Rike Center at Otterbein College, located at 180 Center St. in Westerville, and is free and open to the public. Baby supply donations (diapers, wipes, etc.) to the Otterbein Students for Life’s annual diaper drive for Pregnancy Decision Health Centers will be accepted at the talk. YOUNG ADULT CONFERENCE                                                Register now for The Young Adult Conference hosted by the Diocese of Columbus for young adults and young professionals ages 18-39. This conference will be held on Sat. April 10th from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Christ the King Church. Cost is $30.00 per person, which includes lunch. DAY OF REFLECTION

The Marriage & Family Life Office is sponsoring Working at Moving on with Our Lives, a day of reflection for the separated and divorced on Saturday, March 27th from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul Church in Westerville.
