RCIA – 2009 – 2010

The topic for this week is “The History of the Church”, presented by Father Lutz. RCIA sessions are held in the Atrium every Wed, at 7:00 p.m.  Sessions are open t0 anyone interested in learning more about your faith.   All are welcome!



The quarterly Jordon Conference session for parents who wish to have a child baptized will be held on October 27, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in the atrium. Please contact the parish office at 445-9668 to confirm your attendance.


BIBLE STUDY….is set to resume on Wed., Oct. 21st at 6:00 p.m. in the Specht Center. We will study the 1st and 2nd letters of St. Paul to the Corinthians. All are welcome.  Please join us as we begin a new season of study and meditation on the word of God.



The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick will take place here after each of the masses on the weekend of Oct. 24-25.

OUR PARISH POTLUCK PICNIC-COME ONE, COME ALL….Join us on October 18th, immediately following the 11:30 mass for a potluck in the gym.  The Knights of Columbus will bring meats, buns and pop.  All are invited to bring side dishes of salad, vegetables or dessert. Bring your own special beverages if you like.  We will provide paper goods and silverware.



St. Mary will again partner with Catholic Social Services in reaching out to serve the disabled and older adults of our community with projects around their home. The annual Make a Difference Day will be held on Saturday, Oct. 24th. We will gather at St. Mary at 9:00 a.m. Last year we had an outstanding turn out for this effort and were able to accomplish such projects as raking leaves, repairing gutters, washing windows, painting, and installing handrails for personal safety. Make a Difference Day is the largest national day set aside for helping others. We need your help again this year, please sign up on the sheet located under the pictures of Pope Benedict and Bishop Campbell. 64TH DIOCESAN COUNCIL of CATHOLIC WOMEN CONVENTION…will be held on Saturday, Oct. 31st at St. Thomas Church in Zanesville, OH from 9:00 a.m. to

3:00 p.m. The cost is $25.oo and includes a continental breakfast and lunch. The keynote speaker is Marcus Grodi, seen regularly on EWTN. JOURNEY of a LIFETIME: EXPLORE DOMINICAN LIFE   Come and see why women are drawn to this life and experience a weekend of Prayer, Study, Community and Preaching with the Dominican Sisters of Peace in St. Catharine, KY on

Ø  Youth Wrestling 2009-2010. Open to boys in grades 1-8 (teams for 1-6 and 7-8). Practice begins the week of November 9.  There will be a meeting for all wrestlers and their parents in the Bishop Hartley High School cafeteria at 6:00pm on November 9th.Registration forms can be picked up at any Catholic grade school.  Contact coach Paul Petrella at 751-1315 for further information.

Ø  Fall Open House at Hartley will be held on Thursday, November 5th beginning at 7:00p.m.  We extend a warm invitation to all 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students and families who are interested in a future at Bishop Hartley.  Tour the school and visit with the principal, academic department chairs, guidance counselors, activity moderators, and coaches. Ø  Fall Open House for all eighth-grade boys and their parents will be held at St. Charles on Sunday, Nov. 1st.  The main program will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the school’s Campus Theatre, at 2010 East Broad Street in Bexley. Afterward there will be an opportunity to speak with faculty members, coaches, students, alumni, and advisory board members. St. Mary’s in conjunction with will be hosting a series of talks entitled, “Reasons to Believe.”  We will meet the first Thursday of every month in the “Grotto” at Gresso’s on High Street at 7:00 p.m. The kickoff meeting is on November 5th. People are encouraged to come early (6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.) for dinner and fellowship. The evening will consist of a featured wine and wine instruction, a raffle, a brief talk on why we believe what we believe, and questions answered by Father Josh Wagner from  Start reserving your first Thursdays to come and learn about your faith in an interesting and exciting way and meet new people!  Email with questions or for more information.  Participants pay for their own dinner and drinks



There will be a mass at St. Leo on Tuesday, November 10th at 7:00 p.m.  That date is the feast day of St. Leo the Great, Pope and Doctor of the Church.
