SPRING OPEN HOUSE at the JOSEPHINUM
The Pontifical College Josephinum welcomes the general public to a Spring Open House on Saturday, May 2, 2009, from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Explore the beautiful buildings, chapels, and grounds of the only pontifical seminary outside of Italy – home to more than 160 Catholic seminarians representing dioceses from the United States and abroad. Staff and seminarians will be on hand to offer tours of this majestic landmark, highlighting the extensive woodwork, stained glass, terrazzo floors, intricate brickwork, and sacred art. Rare books and manuscripts from the Josephinum library will be exhibited, and seminary memorabilia will be available for purchase.
Admission and parking are free. The tours will begin every half hour and are approximately 30 minutes in duration, followed by refreshments. For more information, please call the Advancement Office at 614-985-2203.
This year’s event will be held on Tuesday, May 5th at St. Brigid Catholic Church, 7179 Avery Road, in Dublin, OH. The day begins with Mass at 10:30 a.m. and is followed by lunch and entertainment. Our celebrant will be Bishop Frederick Campbell, who will join us for lunch. Registration is $15.00. Call Angelita in the Social Concerns Office at 614-241-2540 to register. Payment must be received by April 30, 2009.
COMING UP SOON
The Bishop’s Annual Appeal will take place in May.
There will be an informational BAA meeting held in the school gymnasium following each of the weekend masses on May 2nd and 3rd. We are ahead of the appeal here because we ran a three year version of the appeal last year. We will be asking those who have not made a three year pledge to the BAA to make a one or two year pledge. The good news is that our three year pledges have already got us past our BAA goal for this year. So, new pledge money will all stay right here at St. Mary’s for the ongoing care of our historic buildings and for scholarships to our grade school based on financial need. The diocese will soon mail a description of this year’s appeal to all our households.
CATHOLIC CEMETARIES – SPRING UPDATE
Offices at St. Joseph, Resurrection, and Holy Cross Cemeteries will be open on Sundays, May 3, 10 & 17 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Family Service Advisors will be available to assist families with pre-need arrangements and answer questions.
